Mee Noodle Shop & Grill

I live on the same block as Mee, and I feel like the luckiest New Yorker on earth. This place makes the best vegetable dumplings and scallion pancakes I have had since 1998, when my favorite Chinese place downtown closed to make way for a Dunkin Donuts. Inside, Mee has an old school, run-down look...but the hustle and bustle of the service and the steamy, delicious (and cheap!) food makes this place feel like a welcoming extension of my home. I love Mee! You have to check it out!

If you're looking for ambience, this isn't the place. If you're looking for solid take-out food, you've come to the right spot. People who expect quality service really need to tone down their expectations.

Years ago my mother introduced me to Mee Noodles as being an affordable and healthy place to eat in our neighborhood. We tend to order take out from here more then anywhere else. The food is good, and the prices are fare, but the service isn't very good, and there's not enough room to comfortably eat in this tiny restaurant. The atmosphere is really set for a quick bite. Each time I've eaten here I get the impression that they're rushing us out the door to make room for the next costumer. It goes without saying, this is a great place to order takeout from, but not a good place to eat in and enjoy your meal. I must say this is the healthiest Chinese food I've ever come across.

The food is pretty good for Chinese in midtown (though can't touch Chinatown as far as I'm concerned) and the prices are excellent for the area, particularly the soups. They will also deliver for a $5 order which is great. However, they have started charging for the crispy noodles! Are they crazy?! What Chinese restaurant would do this?! They aren't even the good kind! In sum, good value, pretty good portions, good food, but charge you for the crispy noodles. And theyr'e jerks on the phone.

Good food. Great value. But the delivery guy is very rude.

Need a fast lunch? This is the place! It's lightning fast. Tasty food. Efficient wait staff. Tables too close together, but that's how they "get 'em in and get 'em out" so quickly. Not a place to sit and chat with friends or co-workers. But for a really fast and inexpensive lunch place, this is great!
