Very good penne alla toscana, poor carpaccio arugula, overpriced wine, good service. Nothing to write home about.

If you live in the E60's chances are you've tried this place. If you're thinking about it then I recommend you look for better value somewhere else. Is it a bad restaurant? No. But for what it costs you'd expect it to be a lot better. Just for reference, I'm not a cheap skate. I get New York pricing and don't mind paying up for it 98% of the time. However, when you find yourself walking out for $50 a person and all you've had is a salad, pizza and a glass of wine you feel like a sucker. Its always busy, but then again so is every place in the area.

This place was great. I took my girlfriend for our anniversary, and everything from the appetizer, to both our entrees was great. Probably the best Italian I've had since moving to NYC.

this being my first and only time here, it's hard to talk about the restaurant as a whole. the service was appropriately quick and attentive, we sat outside which is always nice. the steak (i belive the only one on the menu) was very bland - don't order it. the real highlight here was the paparadelle with duck ragu -it's a must have. it is the best pasta i've had outside of italy. overall i would recommend this as a great place for a date or a nicer than just every-day meal.

I'd been eyeing the place for while, so when my mom came to visit me this weekend, I took her to Mediterraneo. We loved it! WINE- I'm very interested in tasting new wines that I've never heard of and so our waiter let us try two different wines before we decided on our glasses. 1st COURSE- For an appetizers we shared the grilled zucchini, red peppers, mozzerella over arugula. Sooo good! 2nd COURSE- We each ordered swordfish over vegetables. Amazing. I can't wait to come back!

First time out as a couple since the birth of our first child we were hoping for a great night out. Sadly we stumbled on this restaurant. The "minimum $20 charge person for food" forces you to order an overly priced starter because pasta dishes fall $4 short of the $20 minimum, or you need to order a meat dish. With only a limited time before having to get back to baby, we only really wanted one course, so we went for the steak and swordfish. Both were ordinary. The steak came with chipped potatoes and a chopped tomato. Gosh. The wines - pinot grigio and chianti - were OK. The really disappointing thing though was the service. We were rushed from the beginning by the waiters, had to ask for plates for our bread and I was asked (loudly) whether I knew about the 20% tipping in New York! When I didn't give the full 20% - the tip reflected how disappointed I was with everything - the waiter actually sniggered and came back to my table to tell me (very loudly indeed) how I should have tipped... I *know* this is an upper east side restaurant, so I know it's going to be on the pricey side. However, I've visited several other lovely restaurants in that area where I was very happy to spend much more on excellent, mouthwatering food, the full three courses, good wine and a good tip for waiters with a little discretion and manners. I'm not saying don't go to this place, I'm just saying don't expect much, and for goodness sake, tip *at least* 20%!!
