It is with great sadness that I write this review. I have lived in the neighborhood for 12 years and love this restaurant. The food is amazing (especially the black linguine with shrimp and spicy tomato sauce). The waiters are great and the bartenders are amazing. However, the owner can be arrogant and rude, which is shocking in this economy. His pompous attitude left a very negative taste in our mouth, which makes me warn others from visiting his establishment. There are many other restaurants on the UES that are craving business these days and their friendliness reflects that attitude, making the dining experience much more pleasant.

I found this establishment to be quite stuffy and if you are not European they give sub par service. Speaking Italian around customers as if they don't exist is extremely rude. The food is overrated as is the price.

I swore to myself the first time that I went to this restaurant that I would never go back, but out of sheer convenience, I returned only to have possibly the worst meal and service Ive ever had in NYC. I ordered the Grilled shrimp caesar salad- there were 4 mini shrimps, wilted spinach, 3 polenta croutons and thats all! No dressing (waited 5 min to get that), no tomato and no shaved parmesean (which were all on the menu). Waiter also mentioned that it would be "impossible" to have half grilled and half fried calamari for an appetizer. Impossible! I am still confused why this place is always so crowded. Now i am sticking to my guns- no more med.

The Pasta with clam sauce was really well cooked.. good al dente pasta, was really surpirsed resally good focaccia bread also
