Not bad. Found what I wanted

I come here to have an English Breakfast as brunch. And I got it for a reasonable price: about 13$ that is less of what I usually spend for a brunch in this area. The food was good ant the portion was right. The place has also several newspapers available for the customer (about 10 titles), and being here me at about 11:30 in the morning (Saturday) the was all available. I had a very pleasant breakfast!

    Best Corned Beef in TOWN!!

I found this gem of a restaurant while visiting friends who live near by, it was about dinner time and we havent decided on anyone restaurant, we left the apt and started walking down first ave...all of sudden , McAnn's awning caught our eyes...nice store front and lots of lights! we decided to take a chance and went in....And we REGRETED NOTHING! as we walked in we were greeted with the most friendliest host, who later we found out was the manager, he sat us down, and within seconds a friendly waitress greeted us and took our drink order! i had to try the corned beef and cab. suggested by the waitress...it was awesome! my friends were equally impressed with thier meals. decor and atmosphere was perfect, nice crowd started to come in and we had our desert, which was cool also, and we paid up...will i come back?....YOU COULD BET ON IT!

    Could be much, much better

I like Irish pubs as they are today and this place could be a favorite. Given "Billy's" old rooms, they've installed uninspired, uncomfortable chairs with a menu to match. Where are grilled chops with a baked potato, a fresh fish or a homemade soup?

They need someone in the kitchen who can cook

This is not a place to eat, only drink. The food is Gawd awful, deer friend, and heavily breaded. Only the ribs are decent. Who writes these reviews? Certainly not people who have eaten there.

    Great good great prices!

I have lived in this area for over 20 years. The food, staff and service is wonderful and iit s a great value too. It is a true neighborhood pub/cafe where all people are welcomed and treated like they are regulars. I highly recommend it to all my friends!

Go back to the old location and style...

When this place was on 58th bet. 5th and Mad. Aves. it was awesome! The after work crowd of Bergdorf Goodman s., to the people in the mailroom, to the hard-hat construction workers done for the day, this place welcomed every single type of person. It was the old school, no-frills New York bar. Now the new location makes me feel like I'm reunited with the cast of "Cocoon" and/or the "Golden Girls", due to a crowd that has AARP and Medicare. I was told to keep my voice down when the Yankee game was on which sealed my decision to move on. I guess change is the only thing ever constant in life.

    Looverrly place!

McAnn's is the type of place you can walk into for the first time and instantly feel like a local. The staff are friendly and impeccably polite and make sure that the you are attended to promptly. The selection of beers is limited to the usual American brews with a handful of decent European names. I ordered burger and fries, which seemed like a bargain at $8.50. Though tasty and well presented (it's better than the usual pub grub), the portions do seem small and over-garnished.
