    Avoid the fish

If you want to impress your date - avoid going to this place other than sitting at the bar and having a drink. The food is over priced, not good, and not impressive.

    I keep going back

This is truly one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The guacamole is beyond delicious. My favorite entree is the pork tenderloin, which I get again and again, but I've also had the salmon, snapper, and chicken mole and all are very tasty. The drinks are great too, especially the strawberry lemonade one. Overall it's definitely worth the high price!

    Excellent Food, Snooty Atmosphere.

The food here is beyond delicious, it keeps me coming back and spending $$$ time and time again. Definitely try the fresh guacamole, homeade corn chips, & queso fondido ...but Avoid the Sangria- it is supposed to have fruits and wine and they put an awful hard liquor in it without telling you on the menu. I made a reservation with a friend and the incredibly snotty hostess made us wait at least 20 minutes while letting others go by us, you will know her if you see her, her lips are injected with a scary and conspicuous amount of collagen. I want to say that this is a nice place to bring a date because it is dark and cozy but, unless there are certain staff members absent I think some of the waiters and hostesses make the experience disappointing. But, if you can take out- it's worth it!

    Warm service

We were here before and found it good, but yesterday we really found the food very tasty. Delicious! The soft shelled crab appetizer was light and delicious. We had other dishes and were very pleased. Excellent meal!! We also found the service very attentive. Will be back!

    Just OK

All of the food was good from start to finish but I think Dos Caminos or Rosa Mexicano are better. Same for the atmosphere...it was a more mature crowd than most other Mexican restaurants. The service needs much improvement.

    Disappointing at Best

The loud bar scene and crowded conditions have turned Maya into a less-then-desirable dining eperience. It's too bad as the food is excellent. However, the noise level and margarita crowds have turned the restaurant into just another tequila joint.

    The value of subtlety

Husband took me here for the V-day Prix Fixe. Absolutely wonderful. Lightning fast service and very attentive as I am in a "delicate" state. We were impressed by how the eclectic mix of flavors did not overwhelm the palate or the base staples of the dishes we had. Guacamole was divine. Lobster in achiote appetizer was especially good. Would definitely go back and would recommend to friends, but only if you have a good $200+ to spend.
