Aside from an unfortunate glitch in the ordering process, for which the waitress took full responsibility, this restaurant was a good pre-theater choice. The food was good, and there are a lot of choices for vegetarians. The room wasn't too noisy, which is both a plus and unusual in NY. To make up for the glitch the waitress apologized profusely, and comped our dessert.

Went to Matt's Grill after arriving in NYC. Best pizza and salad ever! Very delicious and nice atmosphere. I want to go back before leaving New York.

the pasta there was very bland, and the advertised mozzarella was just two little pieces dropped into the plate to melt. My date's hamburger looked way more appetizing, so I would probably recommend the burger. Definitely not the pasta. At all. The waitress was very friendly though.

Had a late dinner here, near our hotel, after arriving in NYC. My wife had 'blackened shrimp', which she enjoyed very much, and I had the 'chicken pot pie', which was good, & had a generous amount of white breast meat. We both had good salads, to start. Service, however, was very slow, and after spending two hours there to get through those two courses, we decided to skip dessert or coffee.

We read reviews on Matt's prior to our trip so we had to try it. Pleasant staff, Waitress Julia and Bartender Nikki were so warm & made us feel like we were old friends. Great people! The Meatloaf was Excellent and $10 was so affordable and plenty of food. Atmosphere was nice, not over the top but comfortable. All in All we enjoyed Matt's Grill & would surely go back. Thanks Julia & Nikki, Great to have met you ladies : ) Sincerely, Sue & Ron Damon from Leominster Massachusettes

This restaurant has everything one would want, when looking for quality food, service and atmosphere. It has a neighborhood feel that is very rare in this area of Manhattan. My friends and I had dinner there last night. We had Calamari and Flatbread Pizza for our appetizers. The Calamari was perfectly cooked and the Pizza was out of this world. We were all equally as excited about our entrees and the service was awesome! Not to mention that both the food and drinks were very fairly priced. Whether you are a native New Yorker or just visiting, I strongly recommend adding this place to your, "Must Dine at List".

The food isn't as good as it used to be. I was a regular years ago, but stopped going because the quality had gone down significantly. The pork chops were still great (eventhough there is now 1 instead of 2), but the sides are not good. The mac and cheese had no chease. It was noodles and water. The mashed potatoes are from a box. The calamari were like tiny rubber bands. Disappointed.
