    Great food!

This restaraunt is a great place to eat. I'm from the LA area and was visiting N.Y. when i saw the the place. Being someone of Eritrean descent, i stopped at the place to eat and meet the local Eritrean/Ethiopian people. It was delicious and authentic food, not to mention the good value and atmsophere of the restaraunt. it reminded me of my trip to Eritrea with the way it was organized. i recommend Massawa to anyone who happens to be in the area and is looking for a good place to sit and enjoy a good meal.

    Delicious!

Great food. huge portions. nice servers. good value, especially when you're eating out. highly recommended, especially over the other ethiopian place in the hood. much better than them....but a bit more pricey.

    Excellent food

I also love to take out-of-town guests here - the food is great and tasty but not "scary" for people who aren't used to more exciting cuisines. They're really nice, although slow to bring the check. At least you never feel rushed!

    Slow service, excellent food

We frequent this place partly because it is in the neighborhood, but mostly because the food is excellent. The menu is quite accessible, even to folks unfamiliar with the food and spices of the region (it's one of our favorite places to bring guests from out of town, and those who have never had Ethiopean/Eritrean food). Usually a really good mix of people at the restaurant. You should definitely plan on a leisurely meal, though. Service is relaxed, so even when there are not many customers, you will have to wait for your food. A small price to pay for excellent, reasonably-priced cuisine.
