My boyfriend and I went to Mas for the first time this past weekend. We dine reguarly in NYC and must say that this is by far an amazing experience. The food was superb as well as the service. We did the three course tasting menu, which allows you to substitute for anything on the main menu. Overall, we tried almost everything on the menu. One dish was better than the next! The flavors and organic ingredients were outstanding! The whole entire time we were amazed at how good the food was. This is a outstanding restaurant and we will definitely be going back.

It was my first time dining at Mas last weekend, and my family and I were so impressed. The service was outstanding, accommodating and helpful. The decor is warm, inviting, and romantic. The food is absolutely delicious. Beginning to end. highly recommend the chef's tasting menu. and the apple tart. You get what you pay for! Support local farming!

My boyfriend and i stumbled upon this restaurant and now it's our favorite - well, tied with Bouley, actually. We decided to try the chef's tasting menu. The food was absolutely delicious. And the service is impeccable! The waitstaff appear out of nowhere to clear your plates, silverware, refill drinks, etc. This is the kind of service I'd expect in this price tier, however, there was no pretentiousness or snobbiness. We will definitely return and we've already told many of our friends. This is the kind of place you can take a date, introduce the new boyfriend to the family, or just go out with your friends for a great meal.

For that kind of money, I would not go there again. The only good food item was a salad. Otherwise, fish was bland and soft shell crab was not that tasty. The ambience is great but I wouldn't go there for the food. Disappointed.

My wife and I dined at Mas, for the first time, a few weeks ago, on the recommendation of a couple who dine there quite often. I could not believe the incredible experience we had. Although it was a busy Saturday night, and we had to wait a while for our table, once we were seated the gracious staff took care of our every need (The Maitre D even walked me to the bathroom). The food was impeccable. Chef Galen (Zamora?) enchants the palate with rustic peasant fare like the portugese sardine tart, as well as his more refined fish dishes; beautifully executed and presented. Small, but thoughtful wine list (mostly French gems). The service was impressive. My wife and I marveled at how the waiters seemed to appear from thin air, delivering each plate in beautifully choreographed synchronicity. Mas is a bit pricey, but no more so than other restaurants of this caliber. All in all, it was a fantastic dining experience, and were looking forward to dining there again on our next trip to New York.

I saw this place in Domino magazine and the decor looked great, an upscale modern twist on French country... and they were right. Our waiter was very attentive at the beginning of the meal, when the place was less crowded, but when more people were seated, he was very scattered. The size of the place is so small that he passed behind me 5 or 6 times without turning his head to see how we were doing. The food was just ok. I have had much better at less expensive places. I had the bass, too fishy. My guest had the chicken, nothing special. We both had a glass of Beaujolais which was nice, and then a pear/sorbet dessert that wasn't that impressive. Also, they may have been serving "French" food, but the service was not your typical French service (removing from the left is a no-no). I think a real French waiter/waitress would have been perturbed at the small details. Other/more expensive dishes may have had the flare I was looking for, but I probably will not return anytime soon. I would say it is "just alright."
