Good mole
The mole was good - we asked for the shrimps with just mole - which was kindly done. The tamale sample dish was also good if slightly goey, I prefer them more solid, so the masa harina mix should have perhaps been drier. Friendly service. We were eating as a family (2 kids) so a "chain" restaurant atmosphere was perfect.

I think Mary Anns is Great!
I live across the road on Reade Street, and we have been to Mary Ann's quite a few times. The food is standard (tamales are great!). Each time we've been, the service has been excellent. And it's great to sit outside in the summer.

Flirtatious waiter
The food was mediocre at best. It was not what i would consider real Mexican cuisine. Additionally the waiter spent the whole time flirting with the woman I was lunching with. I did complain to the manager but that got me no where. At the end of the meal I paid the check and he returned and handed her my credit card. This upset me considering that he did not even acknowledge that we were together and was inappropiate. Needless to say I won't be eating there again.

Bad service at MaryAnns
We use to go to MaryAnn's on the Upper West Side often, and were glad to find one near our subway exit on Chambers after we moved downtown. We have always enjoyed their food and prices. However, the service and PR of the personnel needs improving. Our first two visits at 107 W. Broadway found much to be desired in service. Our third visit was our last. We had been shopping & had several bags. The hostess insisted we sit a a table for two in the middle of the room, even though we asked for a regular larger table. There were only a half dozen other tables in use and the place was quite empty at the time, however they would not break "policy." We had wanted a quiet meal together. Finally we left and went to a more expensive establishment where our needs were met. Having done sales & analysis in the past (mystery shopper), we see a need of better traing for their staff and perhaps some changes in policy to meet the needs of the customer. We have never gone back. Perhaps we will get back to the one on the Upper West Side soon, as we did enjoy their food.
