Good food, negligent service
I go to the 16th St. Chelsea location once in a while. Prices have gone up, but that's New York. But the service, omg. I don't expect great service in any NYC restaurant, but MA's is absolutely atrocious, as if you're imposing on the waitstaff to take your order. I almost always have to ask for everything - to order, for water, for a check. It would be easier to pull teeth.

Good food but....
I usually go off by myself once a week and eat lunch at one of these restaurants. I was told that Mary Ann's was a good place to go for tamales. That turned out to be true. However, when a hostess greets you in an 80% empty restaurant (I usually eat a bit early) and seats you right next to the rest room, they've just lost my repeat business no matter how good the food.

Subpar Service
We had our worst meal in years tonight at Mary Ann's - it took 1.5 hours to get our food with multiple mistakes to our order and bill, they didn't tell us until the food came out that they were out of fries so the children were upset and we had to go to mcdonalds after anyway! Food was mediocre.

Service was not good
I ordered the fajitas and they only came with 2 little tortillas. I asked for more. I was given 2 more little tortillas. Then I was charged for the additional tortillas. This is on top of very slow service. We saw at least two tables that were seated after us service before us.

I love Mary Ann's!!!
It's hard to find a great chilli taco in this city that isn't from a shady tex-mex take out place. Mary Ann's has amazing chili tacos (and chicken tacos and cheese tacos... you get the idea!) The food is reasonably priced and the fresh guacamole is superb. It has a great hint of lime flavor that makes it tasty and unique. My husband and I used to eat at the one uptown all the time before it closed and were so excited that about 4 years later (and in a different location) the food was just a good. Try it, it's a great alternative to the over-priced gourmet mexican places and the cheap low-quality take out joints popping up on basically every street.

Sorry but NOT GOOD!
I ordered Chicken Fajittas which are pretty easy to make and they weren't good......the onions weren't cooked and they gave me 2 very tiny flour tortillas - the size of your palm. Very disappointing :(

Great food, great deal!
The place was 15 feet from our hotel and was the obvious choice after a long drive. Luckily for us, the food was delicious. Got the Reade Street - a chile rellano, chicken enchilada and a guacamole taco with rice and beans for around 10 bucks. Cheese flowed from the rellano...enchilada was PACKED with amazing chicken and the gauco taco was full of their great guacamole...I couldn't have asked for anything more...my water glass was never empty and the staff was very polite. I've eaten at alot of NYC mexican restaurants and this stands up to the best of them.
