Despite what that last review wrote it take nothing away from this place, I mean it's common sense that this is a restaurant not a local bar, so of course most kitchen closes by 11. But I'm digressing. I was in the area to catch a movie and wanted to grab a place to eat with my wife, we were in a sushi mood and I was delighted to see that there had there was one nearby let alone with all these health department ratings now, this one had an A but that's aside the point, I was expecting the low lighting area to be slow and inattentive sushi poser but in a few minutes I had a wonderful experience. Their menu has numerous options at you disposals (maybe a little bit too much?) but overall I expected to pay alot more than I had expect, but at $30 (tip included) I was able to get both meals and soups for my wife and I along with decent sake. The place was not busy in the sense that you can have a decent conversation and not worry about being rushed out and the atmosphere wasn't dead that you had awkward silence. The waitress there was attentive, never had my water run empty but same time not interrupting every second to ask if everything is okay like other places. Overall, this choice to dine at Maru Maru had been very pleasant & affordable. My wife & I were waiting for the next showing of our movie so this was discover by interest. But with that said this is a sushi restaurant not to be confused with a dive or pub. If you want sushi, soup and a calm relaxing scene eat here otherwise don't complain if you get served and consider it respect that you are seated when walking in at 30 mins prior to closing.

Service and food exceptionally poor if dining there after 10. The server/matre d and the sushi preparers are very anxious to leave early. We were served very badly made sushi in a very obnoxious manner. Server kept reminding us that they close at 11.

Great food, fast and excellent prices. Love the salmon teriyaki!

Wow, I ordered from this place for the first time (new to the neighborhood) and the food was amazing for a reasonable price and the food arrived within 15 minutes - I couldn't believe it! I think I've found my new favorite sushi place.

this place is awesome. it is cheap and the delivery comes very fast. they are really cheap compared to the other places around murray hill

I've been ordering take-out from this restaurants for a few years, averaging 2-3 times a week. When I first started the quality was already good, and it's been steadily improving. I've also eaten at the restaurant a couple of times. The restaurant staff is attentive and nice, and so are the delivery peoeple. This is my go-to place.

Basically, we order from here 2 to 3 times a week. We order in more often but have eaten there more than a dozen times. Amazing salmon. I was reading the reviews and they are accurate with regards to speed of delivery, quality of food (great for local neighborhood find) and the staff couldnt be nicer. We used to travel up to Suzu but were delighted to find the sister restaurant in our neighborhood. I dont want them to get so busy that I dont get my food within the avg 15 min delivery time, but then again, they deserve to be higlighted! I will be sad when we move, this place is a staple in our diet!
