If you like poor service...
I had been to Markt when it was still located in the far West Village and was very excited to try it again at its new (by now not as new) locale. I was pleasantly surprised that the decor remained the same: cute and cozy however, the service was horrendous! I had beer splattered on my sleeve and water poured all over my menu and coat. The busboys also began clearing the plates of my tablemates while i was clearly still eating. How rude! To top it off, the fries are not even crispy and all the fish I had (mussels and oysters) were extremely over fishy tasting...Not worth it! There are plenty more and better Belgian places in this city (that also have a larger beer menu!).

Oh so good..
Whent here on a Wedneday night to the 21st street location after Christmas shopping. What a wonderful stop! Great cozy room, attentive friendly service and the food was delicious. I had tuna tartare..excellent and a very generous portion easily enough for two. Main course was the skate, fresh, delicate and beautifully accompanied with a sauce that did not overpower the fish. The portion was just right. The coffee was really good and hot! I recommend this for a casual week night dinner with a friend or the perfect restbit after shopping in the hood. I can't wait to go back. Good for a group as well.

Great food, great time
My friend suggested this place because he used to go when it was on the west side. I lived in Brussels for several years and this place is really authentically Belgian, both in decor and cuisine. Excellent mussels, perfect frites... served the right way. Very cool antique bar, and the beer list is long and very impressive. I barely got started on it, but I will be back!

So much fun...
What a fantastic place! I had a friend in town and happened upon Markt after shopping. We sat down and were immediately greeted by a super sweet and funny waitress. She recommended a couple of beers (and then a couple more) as well as the mussels cilantro, and she was right. We each had a salad after and then the best warm chocolate cake I've ever had. It was a great time, you should definitely give this place a try.

Quality has deteriorated
I have always loved Markt for brunch (especially the french toast) but the last two times I have gone, my food has been served cold. The last time when I sent it back they put the french toast back on the grill and burned it and still served it to me! The quality of this once-great restaurant has gone downhill. The quality of the food is no longer worth the expense.

The fries aren't even good
It amazes me that this place has any good reviews. The service is so inconsistent and slow, the portions are small, the food was overcooked and the fries aren't good. All that and it's pretty expensive also. The only thing good about this place is the atmosphere. You're much better off at any other bistro in NYC.

Doing it right.
It's nice when a place moves and they seem to up their game rather than relying on ttheir past reputation to make the transition work. I've eaten here a couple of times since the move and if anything it's even better than it was in the Meatpacking District. Great food, outstanding service.
