We've been coming here a few times a year since they opened. My best friend is Belgian and she says a dinner at Markt is just like being at home. I think the food is fantastic and very reasonable.... a whole lobster served in the pan is still only $29.00 and a huge pot of mussels is $14.00!! Since the neighborhood has gotten so trendy, Markt is busier than ever. Still, the manager remembered us, the service was fantastic, the food perfect... and we had our usual wonderful time.

I have lived in NYC and been a total foodie here for 11 years. NEVER have I been treated so RUDELY as I was at Markt. My party of 4 showed up on time at 8:30 for our res. We ordered generously, our total about $115. After we paid, we sat and talked for about 10 minutes at our table. The manager had the nerve to tell us people were "waiting" for our table and that we were requested to get up and go to the bar. (he did offer a round of drinks there, although that was no consolation) I have been going there for their mediocre food (I live nearby) since they opened. Never again.

The Markt resembles countless restaurants specializing in mussels throughout Belgium. The food is excellent and very much worth the price. the mussels are outstanding. Best of all is the Markt plate assortment of cold seafood. It si tremendous and easily serves four or more. Everything on it lobster, crab, oysters, mussels, clams, shrimp etc. is excellent. The Belgian beer assortment is also outstanding. Even a convinced wine drinker as I am, always drinks beer here. The service is excellent.

My husband and I have been here many, many times. The food is always good, the patio is great in the summer. Service can be haughty, but most often, it's fine.
