    Great place!

Summarize 'Markt'? A professional service, very good food, great atmosphere and fantastic beers. You definitely should try the 'Delirium Tremens', one of the stronger beers. We will be going back for sure.

    Great food!

A friend and I went to Markt for the first time last Monday... we were pleasantly surprised by the awesome food (I had the goat cheese salad and rock shrimp with toast tips) and good beer. Service was spotty, but then again... we were taking our time and lingered a while. Awesome location, and I still dream about the food... I will definitely be coming back.

    Once is enough

We went here for a friend's birthday, and upon arriving, gave the name of the party. The host acted perturbed that we came to patronize the restaurant. so sorry! The server was pleasant, but it was too little, too late. It was already made clear that we weren't going to be treated as well as one should expect for paying these prices. The food ranged from good (grey shrimp appetizer) to disappointing (mussels with thyme and coconut milk, and mussels with garlic and cream). Good beer selection, good desserts, but neither good enough to warrant a return for us.

    Not bad

Definitely plenty of seating for some quiet conversation or have a seat outside for some good ol NYC people watching. One can make it the be the scene or be seen place. But if you want to keep it lowkey- you can do that too. Food was satisfactory- the menu is extensive and definitely something for everyone. I had the moules natural - mussels were good perfectly seasoned and you can taste the sea in the pot - the frites were okay - I think it could've been better felt like diner fries. My friend had the waffles- looked dry and boring. Service was satisfactory - the waiter didn't bother us too much and didn't go out of his way to be friendly either.

Great food, european beer, & atmosphere!

My wife and I love Markt, and now are weekend regulars. The food is fantastic and the extensive, european beer menu with specialty glasses is great as well. Located in the Chelsea "meat packing district" it is in a fun, hip area with lots of other fun, hip places to go for drinks. Markt is a good value for the city. As Manhattan residents, we highly reccomend it!

    Disappointment

My colleague and I went here for dinner with his girlfriend and we were all disappointed. Service: unfriendly and very unattentive. Atmosphere: mediocre (we felt like we were in a try-hard motel restaurant). Drinks: very small and overpriced (where do they get off serving 1/2-sized beers?!). Food: tasty but poor value.

    Not a place for lingering

I went there after work alone in search of a fruit beer, which was a bit overpriced, but on par with prices for the neighborhood. I ended up ordering food because the beer got to my head, and the food was fine. The bread and butter were delicious and though the waiter was quite friendly and courteous, I found that Markt was not the kind of place to sit and linger. I came early, before the dinner rush, and there were plenty of tables outside. I wasn't offered dessert, or coffee or tea for that matter before the bill was brought to me. I had money to spend, so I went elsewhere for dessert. I'd go back for a drink, but not dinner.
