I've been looking for a long time and I have finally found the best NYC Steakhouse! It is a great secret, nestled down a quaint cobblestone street in Downtown NY. I was greeted like a regular, when in fact this was my first time dining there. I stopped at the bar and had a dry martini, exactly how I ordered, and was seated with my 7 guests at a table near the window. We ordered the markjoseph salad (delicious), the seafood appetizer platter (worth every penny) and the soft shell crab special to start. We then went on to order porterhouse for 8, mashed potaoes, hash browns, creamed spinach and asparagus and everything was cooked to perfection! It was amazing since we had people ordering rare, med rare, med well and well and everyone was satisfied! Just when we thought it couldn't get better we were served pecan pie & the markjoseph special cake - and oh boy was it special! Topped off the evening at the bar while we waited for a car, one which the lovely hostess arranged for us! If you haven't been there yet, give it a try. Like I said, the BEST NYC Steakhouse!

After having takeout lunch from this place many times and loving it, there seems to have been a change of ownership and also a change of quality. How would you feel if you ordered homefries from a top steakhouse and they sent you a bunch of crushed up french fries that have been burned on the top. Need i say more?

The recent management change at MarkJoseph makes the best steak in all of NY an even better experience. I was pleasantly surprised when I was greeted by a friendly Maitre D and even more surprised on how attentive he was, ensuring that our party was pleased not only with the food but also with the service. The service is top rate and the wine list superb. It is worth the trip down town! The lobster tails are amazing and a great addition to the best porterhouse in the east. If you haven't tried it yet - you should make the trip!

I have been going there since they opened and have never had a problem with service and the food has always been excellent.

The restaurant is in a great, cozy space, especially on a chilly night. The food, however, didnt deliver. The meat quality is fresh, but the preparation wasn't on point. Same with the rest of the menu. Overall, it lacks the temptation to make it a frequently visited restaurant. It's more of a place that you visit once and sort of shrug if asked how it was.

We had the steak for three. It was not at all tender and fatty. After a while, I couldn't even eat the thing anymore. They made us wait at the bar (we had reservations), even though the place was empty as well. On top of it all, the server was very indifferent. He threw our food on the table and left. We had to try to get his attention everytime we needed something. The bill was close to $200, without wine, which is reasonable for a good restaurant, but a waste of money here.

They offer a slab bacon app. that is awesome. We had steak for 4 and it was pretty good. The leftovers made great sandwiches. One person in our group liked the steak a little more done than I would usually get it, but they cut the rarer parts and served them to me. They have a pretty nice bar too where you can hang out and get drinks after.
