    Awesome Eats

Everything here is so good. Steak and chicken entrees are to die for. Can't beat the price for this neighborhood! They also have a full bar....

    great salads

We have been going here before the theater for about 5 years. Happened on it by chance. We try other places and then wonder why. Its within walking distance of the theaters, the food is excellent. You can have a light meal or a heavy meal. We have never had a bad meal here.

    Great Food, Great Staff

I had dinner at this lovely cafe last night with my partner. We were pleasantly surprised at the charming atmosphere and the great quality of food. I had the steak frite, which was the best I've had in years. My partner had the roast chicken, and I have to admit I was eating off of his plate too. The service was very welcoming and inviting. The café has an authentic retro New York bistro feel, which is a welcome change to the reproduced fakes the city usually has on offer. I would highly recommend the Market Cafe, a hidden surprise in Hells Kitchen! Thanks for a great experience! P.S. Killer Martinis!!

    Inflation on a grand scale

I have eaten here many times and recommended the Market Cafe to friends but after last night my days here are over. It was a hot night so I ordered the arugula salad for $14.00. Since that is more than the cost of a burger, I figured it would be ample and filling. The salad was described as coming with beets, cheese, chick peas and tomatoes. When it arrived, there was indeed a large plate of arugula but the additions were almost non-existent. There was a tablespoon each of the beets, cheese and chick peas and one tiny piece of tomato. When I mentioned this to our waiter he did...absolutely nothing. Lots of places to eat in the Big Apple and you just lost me as a customer. I will never come back.

    Take out troubles

We phoned in an order of 2 burgers and hummus to take out. They did not have the order ready when promised, as they forgot to cook one burger and let the order get cold while they finished the other they served about 1/3 of the hummus that they usually serve at the table they failed to cook the burgers to order - a burger ordered well done is not the hot pink that they served while waiting, they served water, fortunately with ice as the front door was open on a warm evening and they had no air conditioning. We've had uneven experiences before at Market - small portions, poorly cooked food, unclean utensils and glasses, and slow, inefficient service, but thought we would try again, only to leave with 'never again.'
