This place is not good. We ordered on the phone for delivery only 3 simple sandwiches and a soda. We did not receive food for over 2 hours. We called throughout that time and they kept changing the story. They first said it was on the way, they next said they were busy they would leave soon and lastly they said it would be there in 5. Actually took another 15 minutes. When we got our food the heros were so soggy we threw half of them out.

Whoda thunk you could get great food and wine for three for $100 in Manhattan minus the tip. This place is a real find. Wish I could take it home to Portland.

After reading all the great reviews on this place, I decided to try it. Note to self, anytime before planning a big party, it's better to try the restaurant first and not just read people's reviews! I planned a whole menu with the manager of the restaurant for 19 people. He assured me he fully understood everything and we had several emails back and forth to each other. When we showed up at the restaurant, not only was this manager person not there, but he had left very few notes for his team, so they were very disorganized and weren't entirely sure what to do with us. Many of the items we ordered were changed or forgotten, pizza came out cold (maybe they were waiting for other things to be ready??), but come on, a pizza place serving cold pizza??? The pasta would have been delicious had it not been seriously overcooked! Overall, some serious disorganization which led to poor food quality and an overall slightly stressful experience. Would not return.

Counterintuitive to my general review, food was delicious. Unfortunately it wasn't what I ordered and the requested bread arrived after the wrong appetizer. The waiter opened by delivering fried rather than grilled calamari apologizing and proactively offering to take half off the dish since they were now out of calamari (which he neglected to do on 'the bill). My entree was wrong too, with the waiter again apologizing and for some reason bringing me a piece of 'free' chicken after we'd finished eating. My date did receive the entree she ordered, but we passed on dessert not knowing what I should order to get what I wanted. Bathroom was very clean and spacious. Today's price for annoyance: $39

Tried Mario's via Restaurant.com and enjoyed the experience. The wait staff went out of their way to accomodate my family's particular food choices and took the time to explain the dishes on the menu. The food exceeded our expectations and the service exceeded the reasonably-priced bill at the end! We'll return to Mario's, for sure!

My mom and I are visiting NYC for the week and staying in Hell's Kitchen/Theatre District area. We were looking for GOOD authentic Italian food and after searching the numerous restaurants in the area, chose Mario's. From the minute we walked up, we were met with exceptional service and the right amount of attention. Not knowing that the meal started with wonderful complimentary homemade foccacia (with olive oil and vinegar), we ordered the garlic knots (also great). We both had the Mozzarella Caprese salad - so fresh - followed by some of the best bolognese I've ever had and a wonderful eggplant dish. Lovely, cozy atmosphere and definately a must!
