    WONDERFUL FIND

My friend and I had gone to the theater on 42nd street and were looking for an Italian restaurant nearby. We found Mario's and were so pleased that we stopped in. What was so memorable, apart from the food was the service. The entire waitstaff was the best that I have had in Manhattan. That is quite a statement since I dine out several times a week. I don't remember our server's name but he was excellent, so gracious and charming. I would DEFINATELY recommend this restaurant, only one problem, it should be larger, cannot accomodate too many people. Looking forward to going back again soon.

What a great find on 9th Ave!

Who would of thought a great Italian restaurant that isn't too bad on the wallet could be in between Penn Station and Port Authority? Took mom to see a Broadway show and like good native NYers we wanted to stay far away from the cliche tourist themed restaurants in Times Square so Mario's was exactly what we were looking for! The pasta was cooked perfectly. I love chicken and they had about five different chicken dishes to choose from. The food did take longer than the average wait but we were in no rush. Our waiter Rob was pleasant and very attentive. The restaurant is small and cozy. The bathroom, although unisex, was extremely clean. Overall this is a jewel of a restaurant!

    Fabulous find!

We visted NYC in June. The front desk mgr at the Wyndham Wingate hotel recommended this place as a great authentic Italian family restaurant. My children (ages 18,16, and 12) loved the place so much it became the benchmark for every place we ate at in NYC. The atmosphere was excellent and Noel our server was perfect. He let us create our own pizza and we had great fun sampling the awesome desserts. When we returned a second time Noel was there again, he made us feel very welcome and had somehow remembered everything we had ordered the first night. My son says that their fettucine alfredo was the best...even better than what we had in Little Italy. Great food, great fun...highly recommend this place!

    What a nice little find

I'm surprised to see such a nice restaurant in this area. The food is delicious, the prices are very reasonable, the service was excellent, and the restaurant itself is very good-looking. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Great food w/o damaging the wallet

Mario's was unbelievable. I walked in with two friends and seated immediately. The place was rather small, but comfortable. The service was friendly and quick. I got a large plate of pasta and a beer for about $16! I had reviews on this about the restaurant and decided to go...I'm glad I did. It's so convenient for anyone who needs to get to Penn Station or the Port Authority. If you happen to be in midtown or catching a show, concert, or game near the Garden, I suggest you give it a try!

    Great place in HK

This is the best restaurant in HK. It looks good in and out, the food is delicious, and the prices are very fair. The waiters were very nice too. I really liked the Pizza Bianca and the Lobster Ravioli. I will be back for more!

    What happened to this place?

I used to live in NYC and used to frequent Mario's but I moved away bout year and a half ago. Came back for a visit last week and was looking forward to dining there again but what a disappointment. The quality of the food deteriorated and I don't even want to mention the service. I was there on a Wed. night around 9pm and it wasn't busy but the service was sub-par. I always like the shrimp parm but my shrimps were overcooked and the portion got smaller. This is what I hate about restaurants that lack consistency. You gotta maintain the level, Mario's.
