    Manager of Maria Pia

Hi my name is Albano Telegrafi and I am the GM of Maria Pia I was reading the reviews and I saw the last review posted by an Anonymous. I respect the anomymous person and I thank him for dinning with us and I appologize for the bad service. I accept the bad service and the OK food, one thing though NEVER EVER we charge a 26% Tip even if your party has 200 people the maximum tip is the same 20%. I thank every one for taking the time to read Maria Pia reviews. Ciao e Buona Giornata.

    Not Impressed

Went there for my girlfriend's birthday and some friends. Food was okay. Service was poor. We waited 30 mins for desserts to come, another 30 mins to get our check, not to mention the appetizer and main course. Then till I received my credit card bill, they added the tips to 26%. Well, I think that number is only for good service and with customers approval.

The reviews on this site proved correct!

Before leaving for a 2 1/2 day trip to New York with my folks I checked out restaurants on here and picked Maria Pia and one other (Sapporo - good Japanese restaurant). Maria Pia lived up to it's reviews - great food, good service, worth the money. We had reservations for 7pm and were seated within minutes. The waiter was timely for all aspects of the meal (except for getting us the check - but my dad is sometimes impatient :). I ordered chicken parmesan (sp?) and it was the best one I have *ever* had. I forget what my parents ordered but both commented favorably on their choices.

    Glad We Went

After reading the reviews on these pages, I decided to make reservations for my boyfriend's birthday dinner at this restaurant during our trip to NYC. I'm glad I did! I made reservations for 7:30 and we were seated without a wait. While I'm sure it would have been cramped if the restaurant was crowded, we had plenty of room. The waitress was at our table very quickly. Although she was a little hard to understand, we managed to place our order. When our salads arrived, we were a little skeptical about how the dinner would be; they were nothing to rave about. However, the dinner itself was fabulous. We both ordered the specials of the night and were very pleased with our choices. The waitress was there to refill our drink orders without even having to call her over. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert. The waitstaff was excellent, the food was delicious, and the price was right. Overall, a very pleasant experience for both of us. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

    Good food, needs better service

We had reservations for 5 people for 5:00PM & 3 of us arrived at 4:45PM. They told us we couldn't be seated until our whole party was there despite the fact that there were only 4 tables out of about 30 being used. They said we were welcome to wait at the bar, which is not in a seperate area. So, we were totally in the way standing at the bar while waiters & staff pushed past us. We stood there looking at our table! Once the rest of our party arrived they sat us at a table for 4 with a chair stuck at the end. It was very cramped & uncomfortable. About 15 minutes later they came over & said we needed to shift our table about 3 feet back to make room for a larger party next to us. By 5:45 the place was packed - obviously overbooked. The positives are that the food came quickly, they were large portions & it was very tasty.

    Excellent Food, Staff & Vaue

My husband and I went in NYC on Valentine's weekend and after reading the reviews decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed at all! Homemade Pasta was excellent, waiters attentive and value unbelievable. I am not one usually to write reviews but I felt compelled to! My mom and I will be revisiting the restaurant in March! You will not be disappointed!

What a great theater district food find!

Saw the reviews on this site and thought we would give it a pre-theater try. We're sure glad we did!. The staff was welcoming and eager to please. Every course was superb from the focaccia bread they put on the table to the amazing gnocchi pesto. The cod fish was also a true delight. This restaurant is a "must" when you find yourself in the area.
