not good!
My boyfriend ordered ribs which were smothered in a ketchup based sauce. Iordered vegetarian chile which was utterly bland and served with tasteless white rice and some lame attempt at slaw. i could go on and on. to eat like this in nyc would be a damn shame.

Not sure what the hype is about
Visited Marfa on a Friday night after reading the ravings reviews in NYMag and menupages. Not at all impressed. One server for the entire restaurant? One bartender who take 20 minutes to make each margarita and takes cigarette breaks every five minutes? Really? No apologies for the slow drink service and the manager was standing at the bar smirking the entire night. Not helping the poor server with her tables or the bartender with his drinks. The food was okay. Nothing to write home about. Best thing we tasted (and we ordered a lot) was the mac and cheese. I would wait until they got their act together before going back.

A Little Bit of Everything
Mini pulled pork tostadas and mac 'n cheese on the same menu and the chicken and ribs bring a little bit of home cooking to NYC. Yes, it is a bit stark inside, but everyone seemed to be having a good time as did we. The service was friendly and attentive and you could bring a group and not break the bank. Maybe they could lend a little wall space to local artists to hang their work to lift the atmosphere and give it a restaurant with a gallery attitude. I will go back on my next visit to NYC.

I'll be back!
I was there with a fellow Texan last night and we both loved this place! The food was delicious (try the Veggie Chili) and the price was right (great bottles of wine for $25). The service was unusually friendly—a rare treat. This is a great place for a large gathering or intimate conversation. Nice to find a place that doesn't break the bank. I will definitely be back!

Not impressive
The restaurant had decent character but was ridiculously loud. We had to ask the waitress to turn down the volume of the music so we could at least attempt to hear each other over the people talking (bad acoustics). The service left much to be desired. After eating our mediocre food at best, we waited twenty minutes for our half-eaten plates to be taken off of our table. The food was not too ridiculously priced, but it just wasnt good. I have eaten at many southern-influenced restaurants that do a much better job of capturing the flavor of the south. The fried chicken was greasy, the corn bread and biscuits bland, and the corn dogs a fried mess. A cute place to stop by for a drink, but thats about it!

a great little find
a friend from austin put us onto this place, which happens to only be a couple of blocks from our apartment. the decor is basic but rustic and clean, the staff were putting in a big dose of "first impressions count" attention, and really couldn't do enough for us (including asking the table next door to move so we had a little more room!). the corn dogs and guak to start was perfectly simple . i had the chilli con carne which was not that spicey but rich and tasty, my gf had the carne asada which was a whole cut of steak and others had the chicken fried steak and the mini tostadas. all excellent and the hot sauce is serious! interesting tunes playing also we'll go back
