Sooo cute!!
This place was so cute, from the outside to the inside its like 50s 60s themed, very oldie and quaint. the food was yummy and not over priced! it was a monday night and not busy so the service was good couldnt complain.

a perfect birthday dinner
My family came in for my birthday and we decided to go here for dinner. The food was great, the service was very good and at the end of the meal, instead of being rushed out as I have been at other places, we were served free dessert. (and they didnt know it was actually my birthday haha) All of the staff was incredibly plesant and I would love to go back.

Best Happy Hour For Raw Oysters
I love Mare. I really do. It is a fabulous restaurant with an excellent raw Happy Hour and whenever I have free time between 4 and 7, if I am in the neighborhood that is my restaurant of choice. There is always a great variety of oysters to choose from on the board at a fraction of it's regular price. The wine is 2 for 1 during Happy Hour. Who can argue with such prices? The regular menu is also a delight if you are looking for a meal. The seafood salad is really fresh and light and flavorful and the menu has many options. The ambiance is what you would expect from a seafood establishment but it isn't quite as hokey as some. Definitely a good place for a date at night.

Oysters and Beer
Okay, I really have only been here during happy hour, for the Oysters and beer, and they have been great everytime I have been. Bartenders were prompt, professional and friendly. Manager was friendly, staff was friendly, even when I appeared unkempt and just walked in from the harbour. The two meals I had were pricey, but good food and exceptional portions. But, oysters and beer at happy hour cannot be beat anywhere.

Oysters
They were impeccable, both raw and fried; the latter were plump, super-juicy, and totally greaseless. I've never been disappointed with any of the varied fish offerings. There's always been a warm welcome the many times I've been there, the service is charming and efficient, the atmosphere low-key, the prices reasonable. It's an asset to Eighth Avenue.

Never Going Back
i was regular in Piccolo (Gramercy). so the mng from Piccolo recommend Mare. the place is disaster. i had a date there and as son we walk in we were disappointed. the place looks like cold cheep bathroom. their decor = bathroom tiles. the service was poor. the food came cold and not tasty. we called MNG but he didn't even come to are table. some short guy was coursing in kitchen, then walk out all red faced screaming. we just pay the bill and leave hungry. Never going back.
