So basically we were throwing a birthday party for a friend and we reserved a booth at Mantra 986 by the DJ. We get there that night and the place was CLOSED. Over the phone I spoke with someone and everything seemed really reasonable and they were willing to work with us. Everything they said was an absolute lie..because they were closed. How disrespectful is it...to allow your patron to bring 30 people to your establishment and you have your business closed that night...and you don't even call to tell somebody you weren't opening. To add insult to injury, another party (bachelorette party) came while I was on the phone trying to get in contact with someone from the restaurant (they never picked up after several calls) and they were booked the same night in our booth!

My co-workers and I celebrated a birthday and were excited to eat here after reading the reviews and going through the menu. The lobster guacamole was amazing. However, the Grilled Marinated Flank Steak was so tough that my jaw hurt from chewing so hard. The Smoked Sea Bass was also awful! We will not be returning for lunch.

I have had dinner here a few times and the food was great, however the last time I ate dinner there, there was a new dinner menu and it was even more fabulous! The new entrees were delicious and very moderately priced. I shared the steak entree and the rib entree and they could not have been better. The appetizers were very different and each one was better than the next it seemed. While the food is what keeps me coming back at dinner time, it's the fun, trendy atmosphere that draws me there on the weekends!! It's a great place to have dinner and then you can stay for the night for a guaranteed great time! The bar staff is very quick and attentive to their customers. Every time I have gone out there at night I have had a blast. The crowd is always great and classy to say the least! I would recommend any NYer to try it if they want a new trendy place to eat and hang out.

Stumbled into this place with some co-workers a few weeks ago for drinks and realized it was a restaurant as well. The cool funky vibe was awesome and the crowd def matched the vibe. I returned with friends and ate there a few weeks later and loved it... we tasted most things on the menu because we were with the a large group. The short ribs dish and the smoked duck salad were honestly 2 of the tastiest things I have eaten in the midtown/ues area. The tuna tartar and lobster guac were phenom as well. The girls sampled the martini list and really liked the leche martini's the made. In short I recommend and will be back.. wasnt expensive... service was a little slow but nice and gave good recommendations for what to order.

I must say I didnt know what to make of this place . I mean it's gorgeous but it seemed a little young inside. The interior was very unique and not what one expects from this area. I took a chance. Much to my surprise my girlfriend and i were greated by a lovely young girl by the name of Michelle. It was a wednesday night around seven ish and the dinning room was not too busy. We opted to sit in the back , a lovely room with black bamboo and charming chinese stly lights with modern style wall paper. The server was pleasent and offered us the drink menu that was fun. I prefer savory to sweet and had the saketini. carol odered something with lychee nuts I like it, not too sweet. for starters I ordered the crab cake. Best Ive ever had! She odered something the cheff calls lobster guacamole. Amazing smotherd with cheese with seasoned chips. My entree was very good . Scallops with very long string beans loved all of it but my favorite was the dessert.
