Wow
Best bacon cheeseburger I have eaten :) the staff were all very friendly and the server was great and efficient. All aspects of the meal were terrific. Happy I made a stop there while in the upper east side!

Good sandwich; overpriced
I ordered the chicken souvlaki on seamless. It was supposed to come with a small greek salad and fries. They did not deliver the fries. I wouldn't have minded so much except that the cost with tip was $18. That's an awful lot for sandwich alone. I called and they apologized, but didn't offer to give any refund. Annoying

Why?
Why is this place popular. the menu is not imaginative. Compared to many in the East village or elsewhere, standard, boring choices. A lot, a lot of the food is frozen. This is not my choice of a place to eat that has frozen items. Clueless on 86th.

very good
ordered the pastrami delany sandwich, and it was excellent. even though i ordered delivery, the bread was crusty and warm, and the cheese was melted on the pastrami perfectly. i really enjoyed it.

Ask for your $1 Back
I WAS a long time customer of the Mansion until I recently discovered that they charge an extra $1 on all delivery paid for with a credit card. What is this a gas station with different prices for cash and credit? Pretty insulting if you ask me to actually make you Pay to Pay. They were probably charging me for weeks or more before I noticed. Well not anymore. There's plenty of other diners in the neighborhood.

They do it right !
Let me start by saying that due to bad experience years ago, I very rarely eat chicken that is not prepared by myself or someone I trust. Nor do I frequent diners and despite living 1.5 blocks from Mansion for 15+ years had never eaten there until friends brought be a quart of their Chicken noodle soup three weeks ago. I accepted it politely and meant to throw it out as soon as they left. But they insisted I try it and I was forced to take a spoonful. It was fantastic ! I realized they make it the same way I do - by roasting the chicken first ! I have eaten there twice a week since, along with family and friends, and am working my way through their menu, starting with the greek specialties which are authentic, well seasoned and in very generous portions. I love to cook and am a pretty demanding customer with a sophisticated palate that has found a home away from home at the Mansion.
