My Go To Place
I can always count on the Mansion Restaurant to meet my expectations. The quality and value of the food appropriately meets the price. Can't beat the friendly environment and wonderful and timely service that accompanies the food, even for delivery. Best Chicken Pot Pie I've had yet!

Try Gracie Mews Instead!
Avoid the Mansion at all cost! It used to be good value for money but nowadays, their service is poor, portions are smaller and food is so-so. It's not what it used to be!

Friendly and Exceptional Food
I love going to the Mansion. The staff is very friendly and the food is always right. If you were to ever have a problem, you can just speak to the owner and he would take care of it. It is usually jam packed on weekends for lunch and breakfast! Keep it up!

Poor Delivery on the Upper East Side
The mansion is literally around the corner from my apt. Tonight I ordered a sandwhich and it took an hour to get here. The chicken was dry, and it looked like the cheese ran away from the chicken... My fries were soggy. I live right around the corner! It was a sandwich! How can you take an hour to make and deliver it. And when I called to ask the status I was told it was already on its way and it still took 20 min. $14.70 for a sub par sandwich.

General impression
One of the best diners in nyc. Chicken noodle soup is outstanding. they make every effort to tailor your order to the way you like it. prices are fair for nyc. i've ordered in and out for 15 years . one service complaint last week...the boss came over, apologized, and picked up $100 check. changed waiter immediately. salads are excellent and very large portions. our favorite diner in manhattan.

Manage your expectations!
It boggles the mind when I read claims that "there is better food in the East Village" (Maybe. But can I walk to the East Village from here in 5 minutes or less? No!): The Mansion is a *NEIGHBORHOOD diner* that serves the neighborhood, not Le Bernardin or Per Se with its own set of groupies who come from all over the world. If you expect food at that level, then you're coming to the wrong place. This is just a diner for neighborhood residents that specializes in decent eats at decent prices, not superb eats at ludicrous and/or astronomical prices with a dress code to match. Those who expect Le Cordon Bleu food should manage their overinflated expectations. That said, the Mansion's Chicken Noodle Soup is the best and I've had this soup all over Manhattan. Furthermore, they prepare dishes any way I want it, even allowing me to tweak their dishes to suit my admittedly weird tastes. So, while they're not gastronomically five-star level, what they serve is acceptable for what they are. On a diner scale of excellence, they beat the other diners in a 5 block radius and that's good enough for me.
