Odd. . . .
We live locally and were after a new place to try. There always seems to be a party at this place so thought we would try it. It looks OK inside but the music choice was a little strange. It was someone's birthday and it switched from OK ambient music to loud R&B. Very bizarre on a not so busy night (maybe 10-15 people there). The food is the real problem here though. The vegetables were stewed, definitely not fresh. The fish was clearly frozen and so was the pork. The pork would bounce if I had dropped it on the floor. I had two mouthfuls and left the rest. The manager didn't charge me for my main course but the rest was just as bad, Not fresh, lacking in flavor and lacking in imagination. I am sure this place might be fun if it were busier, maybe go for drinks, but the food is diabolical.

great fun place
great place for a party, had a friends bachelorette dinner here and she had a blast...her favorite part of the night! cons: very tight! I had to remind waiter to bring us our 3rd pitcher of Sangria which should have been automatic!

unpleasant experience
I hope by writing this review I can spare someone from the unpleasant experience we encountered. I took 14 of my daughter's friends here for her birthday. We had a 7:00 reservation and were told our table wasn't ready. We had to wait outside int he rain for 50 minutes while we waited for a table. I asked to speak to a manager who never came to speak to me. They rushed the girls through dinner and practically threw them out without even giving them the desert which was suppose to be included in the price fixed menu. This evening was expensive and a rip off.

Rip off with groups
I went here with a group of 10 and we were forced to use their pre-fixed menu. One menu was $50pp and the other was $65pp. They didn't give you the option to select an entree off the menu, you had to choose off the pre-fixed which didnt have a good variety (typical Italian choices). they sat our table right near the kitchen so the waiters had to keep asking us to move our heads when they walked by and then they had the nerve to move tables and almost hit us on the head walking by. I would NOT recommend this place for groups unless you're willing to shell out about $100 pp by the end of the night with drinks. This is definately a tourist trap/bachelorette party type of place.

Greatest Value in the City
I have eaten at Mangia for the past several years, always lunch. Their Amatriciana sauce is one of the best in the city and I kid you not when I say that their pasta is as good as you can get, if not in greatest variety. The only quarrel I've had is that they reduced the size of the lunch portion of calamari. It used to be a big plate full. Now it's about half that size. Still, it's a great place to eat. The salad is always fresh and perfectly dressed. The wait staff is very good and attentive. I give this place a perfect score all around.

Perfect.
I've had dinner here, and it was excellent. The food was delicious, nice portions served hot and very fresh. The service was lovely, and overall I had an excellent time. I tell many of my friends about this place, and they are never dissappointed.

Great place, value, for lunch
I've been here several times for lunch, never for dinner, so my review only applies to the lunchtime scene. Sitting inside is very nice, sweetly decorated restaurant. I've never had rude service, usually attentive (just sometimes a problem getting their attention for the bill - so certainly can't say i've felt rushed). Their lunch menu is a great deal. My favs are the chicken and argula sandwhich and chicken parm, both served with a generous portion of fries and salad (not just sad iceberg, either). That and the yummy bread on the table is usually plenty for lunch and a large doggy-bag. The pastas are a little bit 'eh', favorite being penne a la vodka, again very generous portions. I've had tirimasu here, delicious, and they make a great cup of coffee. Their house white wine is good too. You can have a delicious, long lunch for $20, including tip.. Hard to beat in this area.
