    Not recommended for catering

I have never written a review in my life, but after seeing how poor their catering service was I have to. My poor friend ordered a variety of desserts to celebrate one of her greatest moment in life and they didn't even deliver what she paid for. To be exact a total of items worth $1200 were NOT delivered, not to mention that the drinks that they did deliver were unappetizing. Management didn't even want to compensate them after.

Very skimpy on chicken in their sandwiches!

The chicken Telera sandwich would taste great if they only put chicken in it! The sandwich has a very thick bun and only a tiny sliver of chicken. The ratio is way off. I spoke to the manager and he said they only put 2 ounces of chicken in the sandwich. Ridiculous! 4 to 5 ounces is a sensible portion. This sandwich costs $10 with tax and when you're paying for just a big hunk of bread, it's just not worth it. I would not recommend eating here.

very rude staff and late deliveries

Staff is very arrogant and rude to the customers even to loyal ones like myself. Good food but doesnt worth the attitude and the wait!

    lunch buffet discontinued

... at least on W 57th St - - was a big part of the Mangia value ... obviously a casualty of these economic times

    Great antipasto bar upstairs!

Mangia is more known for the quick lunch downstairs, but upstairs is a full-service sit-down restaurant with a menu with a variety of pastas and an all-you-can-eat antipasto bar that you can have as your lunch. I highly recommend the antipasto bar! The antipasto bar changes, but always includes lots of vegetarian/vegan options in the antipasto bar, including roasted and grilled veggies like gourmet mushrooms, asparagus, brussel sprouts, eggplant and zucchini. The bread basket with a variety of breads (breadsticks, focaccia, and fresh Italian bread) brought to the table rounds out the meal. Service is polite and attentive, and the atmosphere upstairs is very nice - sleek and contemporary. Of course, you'll pay more upstairs, but it's a much more relaxed lunch option and if you get the antipasto bar, you can go back and have as much as you like of your favorites!

    I love Mangia

For 7 years I worked near 57th Street and went to Mangia consistently for lunch (I have never eaten in the restaurant upstairs though). The take out/eat in part is all about the food. It is excellent! A tremendous amount of variety every day and only the freshest and most creative ingredients and preparations. I almost always choose items from the "salad bar" which is unlike any other salad bar I have ever seen. Now that I no longer work near a Mangia I miss it desperately.

    Good sandwiches, bad salad

Sandwiches such as the Tuna with dill is excellent. So are the mozarella and tomato sandwiches. I definitely do not recommend the Southern Comfort salad. It was awful. The blue cheese dressing was really liquidy 'white water' that looked like white out. This restaurant needs to get a clue if it's going to continue serving dressing like this!
