Roast beef and asiago, with a side of nostalgia

Soft, fresh italian bread. Thick slices of fresh asiago cheese. Thinly sliced roast beef. Add a few roasted peppers, some olive oil and oregano, and you have the perfect sandwich from Manganaro's. And, the store itself is like walking through a porthol

best hero on the block hands down

If you can apreciate better than average quality, simple, delicious, fresh food for a reasonable price in a modern, clean environment -- hero boy is the place on the block for you. Anything with meatballs is a good choice -- the riceballs with sauce are g

    Best Italian under $20!

Food was fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Not your typical pizza/pasta. More than just cheesy carbs-this food tastes very refined, subtle, and smile-inducing. It's the Italian mother I never had. Generous portions, too.

    Good Parm Hero

Had a childhood favorite of potato and egg which is the Friday special and had to wait whle they made it fresh. Service was ok and tolerable, no major attitudes. Dining room was big, spacious and clean. All-in-all well worth the price.

    Worst service in NYC

The bitter nasty old staff actually insults the customers. And the food is very mediocre to boot. Maybe it was good 50 years ago when their grandparents operated it. But not now. Not even clean. Fageddaboudit!

    Too much hype

Too much hype of food. Plus they charge for deliveries, only tell you this at the very end, no matter how big the order.

    must try

I tried the prosciutto, peppers, and fresh mozzarella hero, and have to say it was one of the best Italian heroes I have ever had in my life. Don't tell them I said so, but the bread next door at Grosseria is much better, though. Now if only I can get t

Best old school hero in town

This place is simply one of my most favorite places to eat in the world. The meatball hero is huge and delicious. I love the rice balls too. Pastas are above average. Staff is always friendly. Best place to grab some cheap italian food before MSG or Javi
