saw some negative reviews lately so wanted to add a nice one. We have 3 local diners. Usually I order Washington b/c its closest or Manatus but decided to compare the prices since some noted prices went up, I ordered a swiss waverly melt deluxe and it was a little cheaper so figured WTF? I also have been weirdly craving cheesecake so got that too. My only complaint is I asked for rye and they sent white but not that huge of a deal. It came with french fries & a couple onion rings and lettuce and bright red ripe tomatoes on Jan 31 so that was impressive. The meal was delicious and I ate the whole thing which for me is rare. Just opened the cheesecake so I can tell you about that too (too full for desert now). Here is where they lost points. There was just a little strawberry juice on it. I don't know if it was the cake was half strawberry/half plain and this was close to the divide so got some splashed on or it was intentional. Presentation of the cheesecake was not great but was really creamy and delicious - and the strawberry so minor it didn't ruin the taste. I will order it again. All that came to $15,25 and was worth every penny. Yum!

Never found the food to be of any good quality but went back for the outdoor atmosphere and some wine, where the waiter proceeded to charge us for the most expensive wine on the menu even though we had asked for house wine. In addition, I just got sick of the rude and cold management of the place. There are so many other amazing places in the West Village that are worth the price paid and the way you are treated.

They make a shockingly delicious french toast. It is extremely fluffy, moist, and delish! It looks pretty simple and it is - just challah, egg wash, butter, and a little bit of heaven. I highly recommend it!!

This place is a diner. A great one. And then you have people on this website ordering shrimp crab cakes and being disappointed. This is a diner. The only one we have. So order some eggs or mozz sticks or burger or awesome but don't you look at me with that tone of voice and to the guy who complained about a soggy pita... Mantus I love you. Come late forr he tranny entertainment. Its dinner and a show!

wow how disappoointed was I when I received my food via delivery. Uncooked french fries, wilted salad and brown yellow peppers that were to be green peppers with no salad dressing. Chicken uncooked with soggy pita. When I called to let them know that if I were to eat this I would get food posion and asked if this is how they serve food the person on the phone said yes. I asked to speak with a manger and to my surprise he was not avalaible. Do not and will not ever eat or get delivery food from them again.

We've been going to and getting deliveries from Manatus for about twenty years. But the last few food orders have been awful. The delivery is prompt. But the food--! We ordered the crab stuffed shrimp today with fried zucchini, salad and fries. The shrimp arrived smelling of something other than shrimp, which means it had been frozen and they hadn't even bothered to wash it. The stuffing, which used to be brimming with buttery crabmeat, was now just cheap (non buttery) bread crumbs, and the zucchini had bits of burnt fried chicken mixed in, as if they'd just thrown what was ever in the fryer on the plate! We've ordered this dish dozens of times over the years. Before it was delicious , fresh jumbo shrimp, brimming with crab meat, Lately it's gotten to be less and less, and then today no crabmeat at all. However the price went up. Their burgers are also no longer as they once were. The meat is not the same quality. Same for the salmon. Everything is not what it was. The desserts (cakes) are sometimes dry and stale, And the presentation used to be lovely. Not anymore. Now things are just thrown on a plate or in a tin dish. When you go in for breakfast it's still the same pretty place, but the woman at the register seems depressed. Perhaps business is not good. If they want to get better, they need to go back to caring about what they serve their customers, the way they used to. Do they have different owners now? This review is written with regret, because we used to love Manatus, and have many fond memories of the place.
