    how could you

This place is a diner. A great one. And then you have people on this website ordering shrimp crab cakes and being disappointed. This is a diner. The only one we have. So order some eggs or mozz sticks or burger or awesome but don't you look at me with that tone of voice and to the guy who complained about a soggy pita... Mantus I love you. Come late forr he tranny entertainment. Its dinner and a show!

    customer service

wow how disappoointed was I when I received my food via delivery. Uncooked french fries, wilted salad and brown yellow peppers that were to be green peppers with no salad dressing. Chicken uncooked with soggy pita. When I called to let them know that if I were to eat this I would get food posion and asked if this is how they serve food the person on the phone said yes. I asked to speak with a manger and to my surprise he was not avalaible. Do not and will not ever eat or get delivery food from them again.

    What has happened to Manatus?

We've been going to and getting deliveries from Manatus for about twenty years. But the last few food orders have been awful. The delivery is prompt. But the food--! We ordered the crab stuffed shrimp today with fried zucchini, salad and fries. The shrimp arrived smelling of something other than shrimp, which means it had been frozen and they hadn't even bothered to wash it. The stuffing, which used to be brimming with buttery crabmeat, was now just cheap (non buttery) bread crumbs, and the zucchini had bits of burnt fried chicken mixed in, as if they'd just thrown what was ever in the fryer on the plate! We've ordered this dish dozens of times over the years. Before it was delicious , fresh jumbo shrimp, brimming with crab meat, Lately it's gotten to be less and less, and then today no crabmeat at all. However the price went up. Their burgers are also no longer as they once were. The meat is not the same quality. Same for the salmon. Everything is not what it was. The desserts (cakes) are sometimes dry and stale, And the presentation used to be lovely. Not anymore. Now things are just thrown on a plate or in a tin dish. When you go in for breakfast it's still the same pretty place, but the woman at the register seems depressed. Perhaps business is not good. If they want to get better, they need to go back to caring about what they serve their customers, the way they used to. Do they have different owners now? This review is written with regret, because we used to love Manatus, and have many fond memories of the place.

    Good food, but not friendly.

I have been to this place a few times for a brunch. First time was about 10 years ago with college friends. Was there with my sister a year or so ago. It's always been decent food. Had brunch yesterday with my boyfriend. I wasn't immediately sure what I wanted and they took FOREVER to come back. I hate when the waitstaff leave you hanging just cause you want to think for a minute. Then I ordered the brunch special which comes with fresh squeezed OJ cause it costs a lot on it's own, so I figured do the special. Then I got a TINY glass when I expected a large tall glass. They offer you coffee or tea with the special too, but that hardly costs anything, so why do they skimp on the orange juice? I ordered the Leo Omelette which has lox and onion in it. Was good, but the lox was salty. Overall, it's a quiet street and nice place, with decent food, if you can deal with waitstaff that isn't the most friendly or attentive. And ask how your food is coming so you aren't surprised. Beware of the brunch special!

Great Breakfast Food at any hour.

Was starving after a long shift and was craving my favorite breakfast food. A good eggs floretine is hard to find in general, but this was amazing and at 3:00am! The spinach was very fresh and the sauce was made just right. Service was fast and polite. Great job!

    Very Bad

Overpriced, tasteless food, unless you count the taste of grease. Strange, indecipherable ingredients in some items, such as the "cocktail sauce." As for the environment, it may as well be a funeral home. Couldn't pay me to go back.

    Price exceeds quality

Some of the soup here can be excellent. Everything else is pretty much typical diner fare. They seem to think much more highly of it, however, judging from the prices. We recently ordered a large cappuccino (the typical size everyone walks around the city with) and were charged $5.40!! And this was sub-Starbucks coffee, sub- most other cappuccinos I have ever had. These people don't seem to realize they are running diner. Their food is sometimes a little better, soemtimes a little worse than a typical diner's, and I would be willing to pay better than diner prices for it. What I'm not willing to pay is Four Seasons prices for run-of-the-mill diner food and portions. We were shocked at the discrepancy between quality and price. Pretty arrogant, even if it weren't a recession.
