Don't get delivery
You're sort of stuck either way If you eat in you are stuck in a loud room with poor service but if you order delivery they serve you half-sized portions. ps It's a shame the food is so good that it's almost worth putting up with.

Nah yo...
I've eaten and ordered from mama's for 4 years now. It has always been excellent. To the person who wrote the last review...cmon man. if you ordered the salmon and got the mac and cheese side, of course they would put the salmon on top. this isn't no 5 star restaurant, it's comfort food. stop crying. back to my review...out of the countless times I've ordered from them, only once (which was recently) was it poor. it came 1hr and 20min late and the delivery guy insisted on comping me. this doesn't happen too often in nyc. so i gave the dude a 10 dollar tip, which he reluctantly took. the food is comfort food. soul food. you shouldn't expect it to be neatly packed or clean. that's why is so good. if you don't like that kind of food, don't order from it and trash it on this site. peace

Don't dine in and don't get delivery
I wrote the review right below this and I changed my opinion on Mama's Food Shop. I ordered delivery last night and the portions were way smaller (smallest portion of food I have ever seen) then I when I dined in. The food was also terrible (who puts your salmon on top of the mac and cheese?) it tasted like it was laying out all day. New suggestion: stay away from this place!

Big portions and strange atmosphere
I went to Mama's Food shop today and left satisfied. I went with four people so I got to try a good variety of food there is some food that is really good and some that is terrible: Do not order the sesame green beans or the pink lemonade! With this place, its important to know what to order. Even if you like to eat a lot, the portions are huge and hard to finish. I would say that this is a bad place to go out to eat, but a great place to order delivery. I will do business again.

Feel Good Food
Love everything about this place! my favorite is the seasoned salmon, the mashed potatoes which is melt in your mouth delicious, and i also get a side of garlic broccoli. its just the perfect meal after a long day.

cold food, dry chicken, crunchy broccoli
Quick delivery, friendly service, but cold cold cold. Chicken was very dry. Corn salad was excellent. Garlic broccoli lacking garlic.

Scrumpdiliicious....
I am a true Southerner and Mama's has it down right!! After many frustrating attempts to find decent downhome southern cooking, I finally stumbled across mama's. Delicious southern cooking as well as some healthier options too and what an awesome deal!! For around 12 bucks, you get a monstrous serving of a main over two heaping sides. Far too much food for one meal even if you are a hearty eater! Imagine my mother's dismay when I told her I had found a replacement...sad but true. I think in this case Mama's is even better than my mama's...
