    always amazing

This place has been one of my favorite places in the city for about 10 years. Always good & always fresh. It's worth it to go in and check out the selections of the day. Ive been dozens and dozens of times and I have never been dissapointed.... and I'm reeeeeallly picky!

    Best place in town

No frills, just incredible food. Get one plate for two people, more than enoigh food. No service to speak of, but who cares? If you are looking for friendly servrers go to a strip club

    The Good and the Bad

The Good... the food is great, and tastes home cooked. Not for the calorie counting kind. The portions were big, enough for two people. Loved the Baked Chicken and sweet potatos. The Bad.... Poor service. I Called once and was told by someone that they dont deliver to the "ghetto" lol very unprofessional comment.

Delicious Food and Helpful Fun Service.

I had the meat loaf wrapped in beacon, gravy on the side, with Broccoli, Sweet potato's, Butter nut squash, and Mac n' cheese. To drink I had lemonade, and for dessert I had an apple tart or pie not sure but it was DELICIOUS all of it! and I had enough for lunch the next day. The guy that took my order was so helpful and funny. I'm defiantly ordering from here again.

    Terrible Treatment

After standing in line, being ignored for almost twenty minutes, some yahoos go right up to the front and are rewarded. The help is terrible; hipster wannabes and some ditz from Louisiana who prefers yapping and socializing rather than helping customers. I never even got a chance to try the infamous cold, dried out food because I walked out instead. The unfortunate owner should pay more attention to these hired hands who just lollygag and butchyboo. It's going down.

    HUGE Portions!

So I've been going to Mama's for over a year now, and I've NEVER been disappointed. The portions are HUGE- enough to two meals. I usually get the roasted chicken which has always been a lot of meat, my boyfriend gets the salmon that is equally delicious. We usually get the broccoli and mac and cheese. I get the brussel sprouts when they have them since they are awesome! They take forever to cook in the oven, so I like getting them at Mama's. Not sure why people are getting "small portions" since they pile the plate high as they can get it. Once I was on a vegetarian diet so I just got a "side" of broccoli and got a whole PLATE of it- to the point I said that's enough. The staff is nice, but if there's a line behind you, you should know what you want as common courtesy. The atmosphere- they have one large community table in front of their counter, and smaller tables close to the door. It's crammed, but it's the experience of having Mama's. Also, the portions are smaller if you get take out, but if you get chicken and not salmon, they'll put chicken in one container and your sides in another- so you get a lot of food either way. I highly recommend Mama's- while it's a little pricey for one meal, it's not necessary to eat it all at once. They give you take out containers when you want to take home leftovers. Please note- they are no "servers" so you have to clean you own plate into the trash, and leave you dishes in a tub next to the sink. So not really sure how poor service comes in- unless the people giving you food are not nice, which has never been the case for me!

    best chicken on the LES

I have been a loyal mama's fan for a long time, but the chicken is always very dry, so i decided to try birdy's, The fried chicken is amazing, very juicy moist and perfectly seasoned. I will definitely order from here again!
