We walked by seeing a large number of customers and decided to give it a try. The hostess asked"have you heard of our brunch" and said it was $18.95. We decided to give it a try since they were so many people seeming to enjoy the food. Once we sat down they offered us mimosa's and juice. But they were not juice - Tang, Sunny D, something like that .... in a mimosa.... (The kids refused to drink the 'juice') Then we learned it was a buffet! And the buffet was the only option. Burned french toast, undercooked pancakes and the other lunch options generally were not very appetizing. There was an omelet station with 4 cheeses ,3 veg & 1 meat options that was ok. Some fruit available as a last option. Overall we agreed it was some of the worst tasting brunch (& most expensive) we've ever had.

I've eaten at Mamajuana several times (I live nearby) and it can be a really nice experience. On the other hand, there are times when the food really isn't up to par. My wife and I both love good churassco steaks and Mamajuana dishes out some of the best at times. At other times, it's oversalted and far too spicey to enjoy. Last time (a few days ago) the french fries were very greasy, so you really don't know what you're going to be getting on a given day. My personal favorite is "Porquito". This is a slab of gently roasted pork that can feed two people. It's juicy and tender and, more often than not, I take a good portion home for dinner the next day. The Sangria is excellent and the wine list is extensive and reasonbly priced. What I find to be the major stumbling block for this otherwise decent restaurant is the noisy clientele. I'm sorry, but there are times and places to be noisy and a restaurant is not one of them. As a neighbor, I'd really like to see management control its patrons a bit more as they tend to stumble out at 4AM waking half the neighborhood. They have recently pasted a few signs outside asking for some consideration, but I doubt that, given the clientele, it's going to matter very much. An expansion of its outdoor dining area is pending approval. I just question why anyone would want to sit outdoors when the view consists of a Getty gas station with its noxious fumes filling the air. Frankly, I'm not sure why we continue to return, but it's convenient, if little else. We generally have an early dinner there and get out before the "regulars" start raising a racket.

I went to this place last Thursday and it was excellent. The ambiance was very romantic and cozy. The food was great and the sangria was absolutely amazing. There was a Brazillian band playing all night. It was a great first date. We ended up staying well after dinner. I would definitely go back and recommend this place to my friends.

We tried the appetizer sampler and it was huge, appetizers can be split between two people. This restaurant gives really generous portions and the food was amazing. I ordered a caldo gallego and it was very a hearty, large soup. It could even be a meal for some. We sat outside and the ambiance was very relaxed and beautiful. One person even said they felt like they were in Europe. My friend ordered the chicken pizza and it was really good, even the next day when we ate the leftovers. Brazilian jazz is on Wednesday night now. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is also very lively and nice to go to the bar at night and have some drinks/appetizers. Mamajuana is quickly becoming my favorite place.

I went to this place once, the flamenco dancing was interesting to me so I went in and ate the most wonderful paella ever! Before I got the plate I thought that it was a little pricy but when I got a pot full of rice with tons of seafood and meat I was pleasantly suprised and turns out it's completely worth the price. I highly recommend this place! Yum!

A must when visiting NYC. I was amazed by the food and restaurant itself. Go mamajuana!
