    No Lunch Menu

The food is very good, but the portions are large for lunch. Table side guacamole is very good, but the trend to charge $15 for guacamole because they mash it up in front of you still seems a bit over the top to me. Service was a bit confused, and it was hard to get their attention once the food was served.

Went there for dinner at 8:30 on a weeknight to meet friends, there seemed to be many servers (confusing as we ordered from one, another would come by and ask again...but still had to ask if order went in), and then when we were ready to get the bill, it took over 5 minutes...even though there was only one other table left in the place at that time. The food (with exception to the guac made at the table - which was very good) was only so-so, and seemed overpriced. Got the Mama Fajitas (scallops were not good, and chicken and beef only average). Unless I was going for apps and drinks only, I'd probably skip it.

i live in the area and have been wanting to try this for awhile. should have checked the reviews first! its awful. first of all, it is all tourist families with young kids. second, not only is it extremely overpriced, but they charge for every "extra" (more chips, an extra tortilla...) third, the food is awful. chicken fajitas? more like ONION fajitas. the entire plate is filled with onions (as is the "pico de gallo" - all onion with specks of tomato - shouldnt it be the other way around?) save your money, your appetite, and your evening - go somewhere else!

    Service Gives Embarassing Rep

I went here on a Monday night. There were 4 of us total. Even though it was still not overly crowded, I felt smushed like a Sardine. The space is too narrow for the amount of patrons this places brings in. Food was delicious, especially the shrimp hornitos. The major problem was with the service. We were ingnored and left unattended for WAY after we finished our food. On a Monday night we wanted to pay and leave. Not here. I kept my hand raised, yes raised, like I was in 4th grade (for about 8 mins) just to get attention of a server for the bill. When we got the bill, we were overcharged for 2 of the meals, by a total of $6 AND there was a mandatory 21% gratuity included for a party of 4! The server said "menu prices increase Mon-Wed" even though this was not reflected on the menu. Eventually he took $3 off, but left the gratuity explaining this is now standard. Prior to paying the bill, one of our friends told the manager what happened. We found out gratuity should NOT be included. Obviously we chose to leave a generous, but much more reasonable 15%. No one apologized to us, for the attempted robbery of the server and the server steered clear of us for the rest of our time in this establishment. I am so saddened that this happened because this is our staple go-to Mexican in the city, but now we'll have to find a new place. It is just not acceptable to cheat diners out of money, come up with unjust reason for it, get caught, and management does nothing about it except take the tip off.

    fresh food but obnoxious bass

At the Midtown version of the UWS restaurant (which I've been to many times and love), the atmosphere is visually pretty, but the vibrating bass is oppressive. Rats in a maze become more aggressive when exposed to such stimulus, and we do this to NYers WHY? "Tis a shame, too, because the food is reliably fresh and well-prepared. I don't even mind the occasionally slow service, but the bass needs to GO!

    Mushy food & subpar service!

This was the first meal i brought my out-of-town guest to and it was unimpressive. We didn't have wine, but the mains were lousy and i had to request the wait staff to take my order 4 times in an empty restaurant at 2.50pm! After our food, again, i had to ask for the cheque twice before they handed it to me.

My girlfriend and I went to Mama Mexico the Sunday of the final World cup game. It goes down as also one of the most disappointing meals we have ever had. Other than the menus having over 100 choices, all numbered (1 - 100) as if you were in a factory (which is exactly how the food tasted), other then us ordering one meal and them bringing out two, other than the brightly colored glowing, radioactive neon blue "Blueberry" margarita they brought me which was only tequila (because that's the only way you literally can get their food down your throat), other than the outrageous bill and lastly, the food was literally inedible (the chicken, meat and duck).
