Make sure you get everything you've orde

the food is not bad, but I was forced (yes, forced, manager and everything) to pay for a coke i ordered but did not get. sure the coke costs a lot less than 20% tip on 86$ that he, of course, did not get, but it was very humiliating and upsetting to be implicitly called a liar or a cheat.

    tasty morsels, but pricey drinks

$9 for a margarita on the rocks with a splash of tequila? Very light on the alcohol. Loved the made at the table guacamole and warm chips. Service was very attentive. We didn't order anything too fancy Chiles Rellenos and Enchiladas Suizas and both dishes were tasty.

    Fun but a little expensive

I live really close to Mama Mexico, so whenever I want a good Mexican meal this is the place to go. However, the service is not the fastest, they take forever to ask for your drink order and food order, and even longer to bring you your bill. It is a little pricey, but the authenticity of the food makes me always come back for more :)

    The Genuine Happy Meal

This is a place for a few hours of a universal camaraderie and pretty good food! If you want intimacy or need a place to dine and talk important talk, then don’t come to Mama Mexico. Save it for a meal when you want to be part of something bigger than your own table and time. The crowd is here to enjoy, and when you consider how many are dining, you appreciate the quality of the kitchen and the dedication of the staff. Everyone works so hard at Mama Mexico, and I’ve never had a rude or uncaring server. They are well trained and giving. The kitchen—amazing—pages of choices and I’ve never been disappointed. Add to this the daily specials that sound like a fiesta of ingredients. And I also love the frozen margaritas—one is usually enough—generous and powerful, just as I like it. My circle of friends feels the same way. The mariachis top it all off, they make it Mama Mexico. Don’t poo-poo this place. Treat your best friend at birthday time and you’ll both remember it.

    Fun Times!

I went here for a birthday dinner with a party of 12. The restaurant was packed but the wait staff was fairly attentive for such a full house. The menu had a vast selection of Mexican food, all of which was delicious. Luckily, our food was brought out quickly and the waiter kept making sure everyone's drinks were filled! The mariachi band quite simply made the night...they were great & were taking requests from the patrons, which was nice! Overall, definitely a fun place with very good Mexican food & music!!

    Outstanding

I would highly recommend this place to any one ho likes mexican food. There is great deal of high level service once you get there. The fresh Guacamole is the best in New York city, and the margaritas are good. I had a Paella it was fantastic. I will defintely be back.

    what happened?

I've been to this place a few times in the past and the food and service were great (both weekdays and weekends). I went yesterday evening and the service was slow, the meal was poorly cooked and we were more crowded than ever! As a party of 9, you'd think we'd be seated at a booth or something, not in the middle of the floor. I ordered the Pollo en salsa de almendra, which I've tried before and was excellent; this time, the chicken was rubbery and the sauce was bland. The mango margarita on the other hand was good. Won't be going back anytime soon, that's for sure. Not worth what their prices. Not reccomended at all.
