    Not MaMa Buddha!

MamMa Buddah was my fave Chinese, always fresh, not greasy. This is not the MaMa Buddah we knew from Hudson St. I didn't notice the same Mama Buddah dishes on menu (chicken with veggies in white sauce is not as it was at Mama Buddah!), and definitely lacking Mama Buddah's quality and freshness! It's run-of -the-mill NY Chinese, not bad but forgettable. Bring back the old Mama Buddah, or drop the name. Where the cooks or managers from Mama Buddah who knew how create the great Chinese food?

Not the Mama Buddha we used to know

Mama Buddha was my favorite Chinese restaurant in town, and had the stamp of approval of an old friend from China. When it closed, I was assured the food would remain the same once they merged w/Empire Szechuan. This couldn't be further from the truth. Disappointing is the word. Greasy, over-cooked. It seems the love has gone out of Mama Buddha's food. And the atmosphere is depressing and not friendly anymore—no more sweet, cheerful waitresses seeming to have a grand time even though they were working, and always ready to spread their joy. It's a CRIME that they closed their Hudson location, and they are sorely missed. NYC has lost a quality institution. BRING BACK THE OLD MAMA BUDDHA!!

    give it another shot

Ok. I was a mama buddha devotee for over a decade and heart-broken to see that my local delivery place that rang my doorbell before I even hung up the phone had gone under. This reincarnation was disappointing on first go, particularly with the delivery delay. However, since then, they have speeded things up. I'm very much enjoying the expanded menu, and guests have loved the food. I haven't tried anything I haven't liked and the delivery drivers are sweet. No complaints and dare I say, could be a nice addition to the hood.

    oh MaMa, not the same

I miss the real MaMa Buddha which recently closed. This place is not the same. The food is greasier and overcooked. Delivery personnel are not friendly. Even the way the phone is answered for take-out is different. Why? Because it's NOT MAMA BUDDHA. Order here for the run-of-the-mill, okay Chinese food you can get anywhere. But if you're like me, and hoped that MB just relocated, think again and order someplace else.

    English Speaking Not A Strength

Food there is ok (you get what you pay for....) but seriously, is that a lot to ask for a restaurant to have people who at least understand English?? They have a serious problem getting your order right. They always mess up but last night it was out of control. They managed to get all wrong and when we called to let them know they couldn't understand a word. Basically a waste of money and time!! Just dont bother!!!

    Good food, dependable service

I know what I am getting here. Some places in the neighborhood may be better but their deliveries are not so reliable. Never had bad food delievered yet, even on the sushi. They could improve on abit faster delivery but I would not compromise the food. The decor inside needs to be updated and place should be cleaner. The workers are friendly and the phone service is nice. So, overall its pretty good !!

    Ehhhh

There is an empire uptown, which I've been ordering from for years. It is much better than this one. If you're looking for inexpensive food that'll do the trick, then this is fine. But there are better restaurants in the neighborhood.
