In January, my boyfriend and I went to NYC for my birthday. We just happened to come across this diner one morning. We ended up eating breakfast there every day for the rest of our stay. The service was great, and the food was fast. Before I even had time to finish getting my coffee the way I like it, the food was being delivered. I'm going back to NYC this weekend for a bachelorette party and I just hope the hotel is nearby the diner. i will definitely go if it is!

I still eat here because it's very close to my office, but I find this diner overpriced for what you get. Also, if we get delivery, the order is wrong 4 out of every 5 times.

Eating in this diner was a pleasant surprise. You don't usually find this quality on this price range. Food was excellent and service was fast.

Until I moved from NYC in November, I always had Sunday breakfast and a few dinners each week at Malibu. Alex and Andy are like family to me and have taken care of me for the past six years! I miss the food, atmosphere and most of all the staff.

My prior dining experiences at The Malibu Diner had ranged from good to excellent; it was with little trepidation, therefore, that I strongly suggested to four friends that we have our Thanksgiving dinner there. Happily, the dinner and service lived up to (and, for the most part, exceeded) our expectations. Three of us opted for the traditional turkey dinner and two dined on the steak. Entrees were excellent and generous in size and the side dishes were delicious (a very minor quibble, the asparagus was a tad overcooked). Beginning with our choices of a generous glass of wine (included in the meal's price) and ending with our choice of any dessert in the restaurant with coffee or tea, the entire experience left all five of us more than willing to return. At $18.95 plus tax and a good tip (for our excellent and patient server -- one of our number was late in arriving) these meals were a terrific value. One among our number is a server at a restaurant uptown on "Restaurant Row". At about the halfway point of our dinner, he said, "This is actually better than what you'd get in the restaurant where I work!" Had we gone to that place uptown, we would have paid at least $20 more. The cashier, as we were leaving, was pleasant and had a sense of humor, too. So, I know at least five guys who will be returning to this restaurant on West 23rd Street.

We were staying just along the street at Inn on 23rd (thats expensive but lovely) so this diner had to be tried. All as we would have expected, almost everything just about right, although didnt get an automatic coffee refill but iced water appeared instantly. Service OK but a little slow and very laid back. Just a pity the woman who sat by the till and took our money was very unfriendly so we left with on a down-note. (And we gave a 20% tip so no excuse!) Otherwise we definitely would have gone back. Next day we went to the Empire diner a couple of blocks away instead, these two places are completely different despite them both being classed as diners.

This diner is awesome!! Really Awesome!! I am an owner of high end bars in NYC and would love to have my staff be as professional as Malibu. The food comes fast and on time. The lady that answers the phone is helpful and made a suggestion to actually save me money by offering a deluxe and then doing a substitution. We told the delivery guy that we did not have an extra menu and he actually came back and dropped one off for us. The service is great and the food is an exceptional value. My wife and I are big fans!!!!!!!! Love that Malibu
