Best deal for great food
I love coming here, and am so happy that a friend told me about this place. The prices are very reasonable, and you get a huge portion. I've taken friends here before and they all love it, there's something for everyone as their menu is very broad. My favorite is the kari sayur campur - it always keeps me coming back.

so happy to discover this place!
We just discovered Malaysia Grill tonight on menu pages, decided to try it out because it was close and cheap. We were pleasantly surprised to find a cheaper and better alternative to Saigon Grill. We ordered noodles and dumplings and both were delicious. We'll be ordering from here weekly I'm sure!

This ain't Malaysian! It's a poseur!
This isn't Malaysian food by any stretch of the imagination. Whomever heard of a Beef Rendang with green beans in it? WTF? A Char Kway Teow isn't fried like that; regardless of whether you're frying it Penang-style or Kuala Lumpur-style. And the Poh Piah? With a peanut dipping sauce? Really? Maybe someone's attempt at passing off a Vietnamese or Thai roll as a Poh Piah but nothing like the real Malaysian/Singaporean dish. As someone who was born in Malaysia and who lived there for a significant portion of my life, I know Malaysian food intimately and this ain't it. In fact, it is so far from Malaysian food that anyone who even makes the claim that it's Malaysian food only betrays their glaring ignorance of the cuisine. It's beyond garbage. I hate restaurants that tack on the "exotic-sounding" Malaysian label and try to pass off pseudo knockoffs that taste nothing like the real thing as "authentic."

Favorite restaurant
It's not the most beautiful or extravagant eatery by any means. It is the most delicious and affordable place to eat on the upper west side. I love the Kari Sayur Kampur, it comes in a great clay pot and the vegetables are always perfect. The service is quick, the servers are really sweet.

Great Buy
I don't love every dish here, and the atmosphere is minimal, but there are a few dishes that are tremendously tasty: the Roti Cani appetizer and the Seafood Curry in a clay pot. The latter is enough for three people -- it's huge. And the prices, especially the lunch special, can't be beat. Huge value for a small price.

not impressed at all
i'm not sure why this place has relatively high ratings. it basically serves bad chinese food with a few extra dishes thrown in (and these aren't particularly well-done either). sad.

Gone Downhill
A few years ago this was my favorite to order from when they were located on 88th st. I don't know what happened but when they moved to this new location, the food changed. The food is a pale comparison to it's glory days and now the is mediocre. The chicken satay's especially are thinner and peanut sauce oily. I wish they returned to their former glory.
