Da Vinci said it best.... As an Italian with a refined palate, I can tell you there are few restaurants in the city that compare to the authenticity of Malaparte. The menu is simple but what they do, they do very well. The grilled calamari is the perfect salad, the spaghetti carbonara is unparalleled, and just a truffled whiff of your neighbor's pizza ai funghi will have you ordering one too. Leave the pretense and the hefty prices to the others, Malaparte is Italian food as it should be.

The service here was poor. Went here with friends on my birthday and we called before we went and were told they had a table for six waiting for us. In actuality they did not, were probably just trying to get us there. After waiting 30 mins they finally give us a table outside next to where they place the garbage and it smelled. When we asked for a move they said it would take too long. All of us hungry, we just decided to suck it up and order. They brought out our appetizers thirty minutes a part. Then brought me a little tiramisu w a candle for my bday but put it on the bill!! When I complained to the manager about overall service he just shrugged his shoulders and said "it was a busy night" - didn't offer any kind of remuneration.
