frustrating for "so called french cuisine"
The food quality was absolutely dreadful, horrible cooking. The taste is in complete contrast to the style of the restaurant. Service was the second major disaster, they served wrong food to our table for 2 times. One entree was served wrong, we had to return it back. Beware, this restaurant has hidden tip charge (15%) even if you dont want to pay tip, they charge your card with 15% added from get go. But it is not shown on the receipt, and if you pay a tip, then you will be actually paying double tip whether you like it or not! No more Maison!

Great brunch
Great place for a weekend brunch. Limited selection but all the food is well prepared and very good. Beignets are fantastic. Service is very good. Cramped inside but never very loud.

Too Bad
We have been coming to Maison for years and have taken many of our out of town friends there for lunch. It was the prettiest outdoor restauant in midtown. Three weeks ago the outdoor area was gone. We ate inside. The hostess said that the city had closed the outside for lack of a permit, but they'd be up and running by week's end. We went back last week. The outdoor cafe was set up, but it was drab and ordinary. No raised platform, no enormous circus style umbarella. What a disappointment! Even worse, there were two errors on the bill and it took several tries to get them fixed. We probably won't be back. Too bad!

a great find
On a recent trip to NYC ( something we do several times a year), we happened across this little place after a long day in the city. Outside was cold and dreary but inside was romantic and inviting. The small table we had was perfect and the food was a joy...Great wine, great service, great time...We like dit so much we came back the next day for breakfast.

Glad We Stumbled Across This
My boyfriend and I were visiting one of my childhood friends for dinner. We had been at the Showtime studio and thought we were going to meet-up at one of the nearby delis. My friend stumbled upon this restaurant and called us to meet her there. We were seated just inside the door and we were pleasantly greeted. We all had congenial conversation with our waitress...and bread was brought to our table. Our meals were wonderful and the atmosphere was lovely. We were not rushed out, as we sat and chatted for a while after dinner. We were only asked to move to another table since they needed the space we were currently in for a larger party coming in. We moved, had another glass of wine, and overall had a wonderful experience at Maison. My only criticism was that the heaters threw out so much heat directly on me that I was glad that I did not have (easily melted) chocolates in my bag

Great Burger, not focused much on service
I've been here many time since the restaurant is right around the corner from my work. The locale is great with the ourside dining. But every time I go here I readily expect the service to stink. It is like the are giving you the entire French experience. Burgers are very good as are the mussels.

Bad couscous merguez
Went there for lunch today and was happy to see the couscous merguez on the special of the day. I couldn’t be more disappointed when I saw my plate. The portion was ridiculously small. Not even kid’s size. 2 small merguez sausages and one table spoon of coucous. I was shocked and asked if they did not give me the appetizer size by mistake. I can understand that they only give you 2 small sausages but they could have least put a normal portion of couscous which is so cheap. Not even talking about veggies or broth. They were inexistent. I guess they have no clue what a couscous is. The only worth thing ordering in that place is burgers. Stay away from the rest. They don’t serve real French cuisine.
