Mai, you are nice.
Especially polite, friendly service. The food is prepared with care and more delicacy than most restaurants serving SE Asian cuisine in NYC. Ingredients are very good quality and prices are in the $4-$8-$14 range. Portions are modest, probably in order to use good ingredients and price dishes modestly. A choice in my opinion that is much more referable to large portions of sub-par ingredients. I give Mai a thumb's up.

Great!
I love this adorable, friendly little pan-Asian restaurant. The food is consistently delicious and very reasonably priced. The service is very friendly, and the restaurant and garden are very pretty. I wish they had a longer wine list, but that's a very minor thing...

All around winner
I eat at Mai very often, because the food is fresh, and on the cheap side for south East Asian Food in new York. I always have the red or green curry. I also like their garden, it is very peacful for Atlantic Ave.

Reliable, Tasty, Reasonably Priced
Very good food, interesting specials. For example, the hanger steak they sometimes feature is excellent, and believe it or not, has a lovely southeast Asian flavor. The food is actually spicy when it is supposed to be, and the flavors are varied. I live in the neighborhood and find I can rely on Mai for a good, reasonably priced meal. My only complaint is that the chairs and tables are a little small for a tall person.

Amazing food!
The food here was so great that i cant even think of any words to describe it. i loved the Mee Goreng so much that i cant stop myself from ordering it, instead of trying a new dish. And the price is very affordable.

not good
We ordered take out and were very disappointed with the food. The person on the phone was very nice and delivery was quick but the food was not good. The pho was not good and we had to throw it out. We were able to eat the chicken, but it was extremely salty. The spring rolls were so-so. We had to make a box of Macaroni and Cheese to supplement our meal. Thumbs down.

Great authentic Asian food
One Wednesday evening my friend and I just wanted to taste food that is authentic. We just came home visiting Vietnam. We wanted to compare the different Asian food in America and in Asia. So we decided to drop by Mai Restaurant at Atlantic Ave. So we went and we tried the crispy shrimp pancake, pho and bolulac. My god fantastic! The shrimp pancake taste as authentic as in Vietnam but I like this one better because the shrimp shell is off from the shrimp and the sauce is so yummy. The pho's soup is so pure and is so fragrance with fresh herbs. The bolulac according to one of the customer who sat next to our table said, he ordered the bolulac every time he comes. He also said the best bolulac he ever tasted in New York. Another great dish was the dessert flan. When you put the flan into your mouth, your lips smile. I will definitely come and bring my friends again to enjoy this great food, romantic, comfortable and well coming customer service. I just felt like in heaven!
