never again
My husband and I went here for a drink and a bite to eat. We had something called the "artisinal cheese plate". What a total joke. I think they may have unwrapped the pre sliced grocery store cheese in the back and then tossed on a few mealy grapes and some saltine crackers. Seriously, they served us some sort of yellow and white sliced cheese. It was gross. And it took about 15 minutes to come out. Seriously, if they had run out of cheese, they could have said something rather than serve that.

Simple, fresh ingredients--> beautiful, delicious food
Great prix fixe dinner. Lovely brunch. The owner and everyone who works here are very friendly and try their best to accomodate their patrons. Everytime I go to Magnolia I comment that they know what foods work well together so it's always the perfect balance of flavors. I really love to eat here. Always an excellent dining experience.

Mediocrity
After reading the below reviews, I headed down to Magnolia expecting a delicious dinner and a nice break from the North Slope restaurants that I've become tired of. Unfortunately, the decor felt cheesy and the food was subpar. Truly blah and I couldn't believe we spent so much to eat what we ate. I wouldn't go back nor would I recommend that anyone ever eat here.

Good quality food in a low-key setting
I went here recently with some friends for a nice dinner out. It was my first visit and I would definitely go back again. The service was the best I have had in recent memory. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. I tried the veggie burger and though I have had better, it was quite delicious. Some of my friends had their pizza and it looked really good, I plan to try that next time. The bar menu and specialty drinks were quite impressive also. Overall, it was a pleasant experience in a nice, low-key neighborhood spot.

Expensive for Ole Park Slope - No?
I went here recently with my family (as usual) and I have to say that it was very expensive!!! I didn't get anything insane nor even a bottle of wine but it was expensive! The food was very good, the service was excellent. The lovely part is being able to sit outside and my little ones could run around without disturbing other diners (which is what we all care about, right?). Anyway, keep that in mind when planning. Now, you can plan a cheaper evening there, I am sure. There is Sundays where kids eat for free. And Mondays where pizza is $6.00 at the bar or something like that, so it's possible to enjoy it but I am looking at as a night out and it was "trop cher".

My all-time FAVORITE restaurant
Magnolia is my all time favorite place to go out to eat. The staff is wonderful, the setting is terrific for a romantic dinner, or a night out with friends, and the food is ALWAYS superb. I have ordered most things on the menu and I am never disappointed. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. And you can't beat the prix fixe menu! Great options for a three course dinner at an amazingly cheap price. Fantastic!

Great food and ambience....
I've been frequenting Magnolias for years. It's a standard in the Slope with it's charming old world decor and live jazz on weekends. The menu is creative and hearty....plenty of diverse delicious selections from unique salads to pizzas and salmon and steak entrees. The drinks are always well made....and strong :-) A great place to go for a night out.
