    The banana pudding

I have read so many post about Magnolia Bakery banana pudding. So on this last trip we were on the hunt to find this place! The bakery is really cute and everything looks amazing. Now ... the reality the banana pudding is the average of any body that can cook and the cookie (chocolate with pecan and cranberries) offered little to no taste. Don't believe the hype!

    not a great atmosphere

I tried to get a cupcake at Magnolia Bakery, but the line was out the door. There was a doorman letting people in, but when he disappeared for a moment, the place filled up. The small shop was crowded with people, and it was unclear whether you had to go through the serve-yourself (pick out your own cupcakes from a table and put them in your own box), or if you could order from the ones on display. The self-serve area was picked through, and it seemed rather disgusting to have to choose from the same cupcakes that others had gone over. We left without getting anything.

    I have better..

Went yesterday with my boyfriend and we waited on line for like five minute ...the cup cake were too sweet and nothing really to remember at all...i had better before in many places..the only thing which make them a little special is the box the you get to put them in.

    So not worth the calories!

O.k., I am a cup cake connoisseur and these are so not worth the calories! Nothing makes me more annoyed than wasting money and calories for something that I could personally make better at home! I totally agree with everyone else who said that these cupcakes are mediocre at best! They are way too dry and the frosting is just a sugary mess, nothing to write home about! And who doesn't know that velvet cake is always iced with cream cheese frosting---obvious they don't because it wasn't!!! I was annoyed and disappointed!

You can do better for dessert

The cupcakes are OK at best. Too dry, and the frosting is sweet to the point of being nauseating. There wasn't too big of a line when I went, but it still took a while. I don't understand why some people wait so long outside this place when there are much better dessert places around (including Rocco down the street, which I personally enjoyed much more). If you really want cupcakes, you can find better ones out there, and I bet you can probably even make better ones at home.

    Good but not the best

Not a particularly warm welcome in Magnolia. We mistakenly took their one table in the shop to be for customers and were quickly told it was a work table. Oops, sorry! Chose my cupcake (chocolate with chocolate icing) from the few on display and it was good. I liked the thick, sweet icing (not *too* sweet, I thought). Mmmm, .. would visit again, but it's not the best in town.

    Don't waste your time

Let me start by saying - i love cupcakes. And sadly, this was a big disappointment. I went at about 8 on a weekday night, and there were barely any left. There was only vanilla-vanilla, vanilla-chocolate, and pumpkin. I was excited about the pumpkin, which I had wanted to try anyway (warning: If you're expecting this to taste anything like pumpkin, which I did, then you will be let down - it tasted exactly like carrot cake!). When I ventured over to the cases to ask which cupcakes were inside, I was told I could only get the ones that were already out. The cucpcake, as many have said, was dry and crumbly, and the frosting was too soft and messy. My boyfriend got one of the mini cheesecakes, which was the only redemption, it was quite good but super sweet. The bars looked delicious, as did the bread pudding, I should have gotten one of those instead. The cupcakes are tiny for the price - you could pay the same price at Crumbs and get a cupcake twice the size!
