Madison & Vine
Posted by Not happy on 09/25/2007
Like the review below, I too was staying at the library Hotel when I visited Madison & Vine. The wine was great, no doubt about it. You can put it down to poor choice, but I ordered the Vine Burger. A tourist choice of sorts; being in Rome and all. I imagine the meat used to make the burger was quite nice, but the end result was so soaked in fat, my stomach was in knots. This fat patty was served with part of a leaf of iceberg lettuce, one slice of tomato, cheese, and a couple slices of pickle. The majority of the place was garnished with French fried, decorated with a dried herb that was as bland as it was green. My eagerness to try this burger soon wanned once I realised it was not to my liking. Rather than subject myself to the lard burger, I waited patiently for the bill. I was asked if I was enjoying the meal, to which I replied "The *wine* is great". I was asked again as the response as subtle yet clear as it may be was not the expected response of a happy customer. Didn't help though as he just walked off in a humph. Why ask!?
