Great french bistro
The cheese and apple appetizers were huge and fantastic to start and the Halibut in a light butter sauce is absolutely mouth watering.

Great find
Simply delicious. I met a friend for lunch and we spontaneously chose a place in the middle of where we work. That's when we ended up in Madison Bistro. I ordered the tuna nicoise salad and she ordered the lobster omelette - needless to say we were both pleasantly surprised. The food was well seasoned, the atmosphere was very quaint and great for catching up with an old friend - not too loud and with great nooks. We definitely plan to come back!

Not recommended
i ordered the escargot - not so great. The french onion soup - not salty/bland. how can a french place mess this up? ive had better french onion soup at a bar. the steak frits, - lame and overpriced for value. SERVICE - very poor. i had 5 different people wait on me. obnoxious. a 6 top of business men came after me and got served like gold, however, i was treated as second grade. the wine was not good. especially the pinot. the first glass of Gamay i asked for - they were of. (then take it off your wine list or stay on top of ordering it) then i suggested he open a bottle the same varietal of wine since they inconvnienced me by not having that type of wine by the glass and they refused. they served it in a small chinese style wine glass. the FREE soda bread however - was excellent.

Skip it at half the price
We went in in for dinner and found the decor charming. Sadly, that's about it. First, the wine list is very limited. Next, the menu states the appetizers as 'only' $10 and the entrees as 'only' $25, definitely expensive for what a bistro usually brings to mind. Well, that $10 'only' got me a boring pile of greens and three halves of a grape tomato, dressed in sharp tasting vinaigrette. How do you mess up lettuce? The gnocchi entree was tiny, but I did not mind, as the dish was overpowered by sun dried tomatoes. We were truly disappointed. Sorry guys!

Is this really French
Last night we attended an event at the Morgan Library, and I looked for a place to have dinner. This looked like a good choice. What a disappointment. The main course that I ordered was boulliabese. It was not good at all. It consisted of four mussels, four shrimps and a lobster shell that had no meat. Instead of tile or monkfish, there was an old piece of salmon. The sauce was not the flavorful garlic that is standard, and the croutons were tasteless. I do have to say that the crab cake appetizer was good. My husband ordered the casoulet with garlic sausage which was not there. If it were earlier in the evening, we would have made a complaint. I will never go there again.

More Bistro like that
The food here is fantastic, Lunch and Dinner prix fixe are bargains. The wine is affordable and the selction is large. The perfect place to have a wonderful dinner in a nice athmosphere. difficult to beat the value.
