Only BBQ is good
I have ordered numerous times from this restaurant, but i found out that they are only good with bbq. Other stuff, I would rather go to keunjip. also becareful, the portion is very small for a guy to be fulfilled! and its a little expensive too..

Natural Wood Grilled BBQ?
Madangsui has a nice atmosphere and all the bbq meats from the tables around us smelled so good... we were there to try their tofu stews (soonduboo) but found it substandard. We'd return to try their bbq meats the next time. Service was a lil spotty because the servers came to our table with other guests' orders more than once. It wasn't terribly packed, so we wondered why were the plates being sent to the wrong table?!

Admittedly not an expert, but I liked it
I have only had Korean food a few times so am not able to say whether or not this is authentic, etc. I liked my lunch order. It was hot, tastey, fresh and delivered quickly. The only downside was the strong fish smell when you walk in the door. I liked it enough that I do plan to try it again.

Most enjoyable eating experience in a long time!
My husband and I went here after shoe-shopping at Macy's. When you enter, you'll notice that it's smoky, but once you taste the BBQ, you won't mind at all! We had the Galbi and a pork "Dweji" Bulgogi.

Be prepared
How embarassing to take a large group of friends here for dinner -quality of food has definitely gone down hill (explains why the restaurant was almost empty). The portions have gotten staggeringly small. we ordered a 28.00 ribeye that was literally 8oz of meat. I complained to our server and nothing was done about this. it is preposterous. The management didn't do anything to correct the situation and this is during a meal for over 11 people and a sizable bill at that.. Feels like the restaurant management is trying to nickel and dime you throughout your entire meal (the small dishes provided with the meal were mediocre as well). Very disappointed and not coming back again. Much better food, quality, and value to be found at BCD Tofu House or Kunjip.

Fantastic Korean barbecue
I was taken here by a Korean friend. We had the saeng galbi, and it was delicious, as were all of the numerous side dishes. Really, the food here is terrific by any standard (and I have visited Korea). This place is a few blocks up from K-town, in a more boring-looking area, but it is better than just about anything in K-town. Madangsui is a little pricey, and the decor is slightly less exciting than many other Korean restaurants (the plastic-wrapped sample entrees behind the glass just inside the front door were probably not a wise choice), but these considerations are minor. Highly recommended.

a newcomer
My husband and I went here the other night for dinner. There certainly was more than enough food for two and if we were going home, we could have brought it with us. However, when we arrived no one asked if we had ever been there before. After we were seated and our order taken, a server brought out about a dozen small plates with various items on them. I had to ask 2 people before I found out what we were supposed to do with this food. It turns out that they really are meant to be condiments, which did indeed add to the food ,which we thought was quite good, but some direction would have been helpful. We will surely return.
