    Enjoyed the Food & Service

A friend and I enjoyed the tapas here, from the patatas bravas to the empanadas. The waitress was helpful in selecting the dishes, though the decor was a little off and the temperature cold.

    Not that impressed

Went with a friend to Macondo last weekend, the menu is their riff on traditional latin dishes served tapas style. Being Latina myself I was familiar with a lot of the dishes listed on the menu. My take on the food: it was nothing special, the portions were a bit small, and one item on the menu - the bacalao-itos (which traditionally is a crispy flat cod fish fritter), wasn't good at all. Their version of it was in the style of a beignet which was kind of greasy & heavy & chewy, and they sat on top of a mayo/chipotle sauce which I didn't like at all. I guess I'm used to the ones I grew up on. All in all I really wasn't impressed with our tapas and their portions. The only thing I really enjoyed was the yuca relleneos, and we received 3 the size of globe grapes, that's how small they were. On a positive note our waitress was very helpful & friendly. But I can say with certainty that I wouldn't venture back to eat there anytime soon.

    Maximo is a great chef!

We sat the bar and were able to watch from close-up how the Tapas are made and could pick what we found visually appealing. The service was amazing, even though it was an extremely busy night and the place was packed. Yes, the drinks are a little bit watery, but we even got a Creme Brulee on the house! Will go there again. I don't agree with the other reviews.

Can you give negative points for value?

Completely and utterly disappointed by this place. My friend and I came here and shared 7 or 8 "tapas." All of them looked decent when they came, but all of them ended with the same sense of dissatisfaction. All of the food was salty, and lacked any real distinctive flavor, and the octopus ceviche was one of the worst ceviches ive ever hadit tasted like it was out in the sun for a couple hours... i wanted to like this place, but after 8 sub-par dishes, i faced facts

    Tiny Drinks too?

My friends and I went here last night and were so disappointed. First of our server was an idiot. He kept trying to correct my Spanish friend's pronunciation of Spanish words! Telling him it was Car- ny", not "Carrr- N`e" was just plain rude. Then he ignored us and only delivered half our food, saying as soon as it came out we would get it. After about 30 minutes, the window was totally backed up because he didn't even know the different dishes! I was also very upset with my Capihrina. I paid for a full drink and yet it was half the size of a normal drink and too sweet. The water was also in tiny glasses, which i really didn't understand, because water is free! I would skip it and go to a real tapas place, not this cheap excuse rip-off.

    not great at all

i was excited to try this new spot, but unfortunately had a pretty poor experience. our order was messed up twice, the food was mediocre & rather tasteless, and after my boyfriend accidentally spilled his sangria (which was the smallest glass i have ever seen) they asked him if he wanted another, and charged him for it. after their multiple mistakes, and our patience, i had at least thought they would comp the drink , but no such luck. we also had to wait forever for them to modify our check for the mistakes they made. i wouldn't go there again.
