used to sort of taste like real chinese
when this spot first opened, they served really good food in a dope atmosphere and it tasted way more like authentic chinese than any of the other joints in the area. this is the second time i've ordered for delivery from them and it's also the second time it's been poor. not only did my boyfriend and i wait 40 minutes for '20 minutes', but my chicken&broccoli was prepared with beef and the sauce was like gelatin, and my mans freddy mercury meatballs were tasteless. the only semi-good thing were the steamed pork dumplings,

always a pleasure
i've been going to m shanghai for years and it was only recently that i realized that the "juicy pork buns" are actually soup dumplings! i finally ordered them and BOOM, mind blown. other outstanding dishes i would highly recommend are the sticky rice shumai, the vegetable dumplings, the spicy pork wontons, the cellophane noodles with pork (you can get it with tofu instead), the shanghai style rice cakes, and the shanghai style noodles. when the pea leaves are in season, GET THEM: they are served so simply with just a touch of garlic and the fresh, sweet flavor is absolutely fantastic. the service can be a touch slow when it's extremely busy but the staff is attentive, knowledgeable and very friendly. it's my local favorite hang out.

Overpriced and Americanized
M Shanghai Bistro is alright if you're looking for basic Americanized standards and you're interested in paying a lot for them. The dumplings are the best part but they're no better or different than those sold at any other Chinese restaurant in the area. Service began slow, with us waiting fifteen minutes for our drinks, but all of the dishes we ordered came at once. The food was just too bland and overpriced for me to justify giving this restaurant any more chances. I don't recommend it.

Take-out not recommended
I got take-out from M Shanghai and was very dissatisfied. Firstly, the order took 1-hour to arrive at my door. Secondly, the food was overpriced for the quality, which was quite poor.

Love it here
The food here is amazing (try the seafood dumplings...they are the best anywhere!). I've been going here for years and i always have an amazing meal and a great time. Not your typical chinese, and definitely the best around.

Quite scrumptious, actually
For the first 5 or 6 times I ate here, I didn't know the name of the place. Since I am aspiring to become a regular, I finally figured it out. The seating is community oriented yet uninvasive, several long tables, a bar, and a secret den which I have not yet explored. The green beans are delish, so is the Tic Tac Toe chicken, so is the black bean tofu, so are the veggie dumplings, and so on and so forth. The owner cute and sweet, the waiters are helpful with recommendations, and I am hungry for it right now. Goodbye.
