    Like it?

We just ate at "Our Place" and were very disappointed. Other reviews had us expecting an above-average experience. Instead, we found tbe restaurant to be totally inauthentic--the kind of stereotypical white-tablecloth American Chinese place that gives you forks instead of chopsticks and charges you for tea. Some of the food was passable, but our main entree was not up to par. They also committed the perennial sin of taking our check and tip before we even stood up--I don't know why, but that always rankles me.

    Good stuff

I have had delivery and sit-in meals with this place and I gotta say it is pretty good. One of the only places where take out and eat in taste the same. Sounds odd? That's ok, if you do both at other places you will see what I mean.

Great Service, but the food was subpar

Excellent service. Very attentive waiters. But our food was not piping hot. And the portions were small. We asked for our filet mignon to be well done, we specified this, however it was medium/rare at best.

    Yum!

This restaurant was recommended to me by a coworker as I was looking for a nice and moderately priced chinese place near grand central to take my grandfather to. I had sesame chicken and my grandfather had the crispy duck and both meals were delicious --- I was still eating long after I knew I should stop. The service was perfect...almost too perfect. The moment a dish was finished it was swiftly taken away by one of the several servers who constantly hovered near by. I would definitely come back again --- the place is great for a casual dinner out.

    Lunch

Food was very good, quantity was more than you should eat at one seating however, I couldn't stop since it was so good.

    (1/2 Shanghainese) Chinagirl says...

Our Place is exceptional in food, service, & decor...a much better value than its nextdoor neighbor. As a foodie, I've tasted some of the best dishes here, off of my home continent: Pork & Crabmeat Soup Dumplings, Vegetable Duck, Sauteed Shanghai Rice Cakes, Duck Wrapped in Lettuce w/ Pinenuts, Shrimp w/ Grand Marnier Sauce, & Shrimp w/ Garlic Sauce...and am still trying new dishes, every dish as good as the one before. I bring novices here to educate them on what good, authentic Chinese food should taste like & they, as well as myself, keep on comin' back as devout regulars!
