    ok

This is the first time i have been so inclined to write a restaurant review. My husband and i live up the street and had been looking forward to lupa since we moved here a few months ago. We took my in-laws for dinner last night and we were quite disappointed. our waiter had way too much attitude, which i can deal with (to me it's all about the food). I had the skate- my favorite fish, but it was ok at best and i've had so much better in the neighborhood- the appetizers were not good and my husband's whole "fish of the day" was again, just ok. luckily my in-laws managed to order very well- the veal was excellent- as was the clam linguini. we will go back because we have a gift card...i hope to update my review because lupa definitely has potential- it's just important to order the right dishes!!

    fantastico!

I went monday night and loved it. I had the fish and it was perfectely cooked and seasoned. The purslane sald it came with was refreshing. My husband had the saltimbocca. It was very tender and juicey. Great place

    bland fish

I went to Lupa for the first time last night. The service and atmosphere were lovely. Appetizers were decent, pasta and dessert were delicious, but the fish of the day was the most bland I have ever eaten. I actually had to ask for salt and pepper to season it myself. Given the reputation of this restaurant we were extremely disappointed that the main course was so lacking.

it's like Italian food in Italy

This is the closest I've come to eating Roman-style outside of Rome. Real Italians love salt! Great prosciutto, superb foccacia, tasty crisp asparagus with pecorino, a nice entree of skate with carciofi alla giudea. The "caraffine" and choices of wine offer good value. Our waiter thought he was very cute (we didn't) but still the service was good. We arrived at 5:50 and were immediately placed at the end of the communal table, which was less bothersome than we'd expected. Only complaint is that they just don't seem to take reservations, no matter how far in advance you call.

    didnt get it

Party of 6 not one rave. Had the baccala crazy salty, big dissapointment as was all the food. Will not go back nor tell friends so much better elsewhere on Thompson. Even the hyped pastas so so. Sorry

a good experience - not "salty" for us

we live in the neighborhood and dropped in as walk-ins at 8pm last night to find that they must have had a canceled reservation and seated us right away. the dining room atmosphere was delightful and festive. our server was attentive with the right amount of restraint and was glad to offer us suggestions when we asked. the tuna/cannelini appetizer was just ok, but our entrees the arctic char and the bucatini pasta with spicy red sauce- were both very good. the wine selection is very reasonably priced- many bottles in the high $20s to low $40s. overall a good experience. we had read all the comments about salty experiences and found nothing that we had to be over-seasoned or salty.
