This is a great little privately owned Deli...I am so tired of all of the box stores tasting exactly the same. This place is refreshing in that it is unique and homey. Great food and very friendly owner who is always working hard on making your experience a good one...

I was around the neighborhood and decided to grab breakfast. I saw this place called Lunch Box and it sound good. I walked in and saw the menu. A small orange juice (12oz) cost $4 and a Toasted Cream Cheese Bagel costed $2.05. I decided to skip on orange juice (went across the street to CVS to get a quart for the same price) and got the bagel instead. It cost me $2.05 and I didn't want to carry $0.95 around with me so I charged it to my card. The didn't tell me they charged extra for using a credit card. The total cost wound up being $2.46. I have no problem paying more if they told me but they didn't. So I am a little disappointed by their lack of honesty. I probably won't buy from here again because they are not honest.

I discovered this little place about 3 months ago after working and going to school in the area for almost a year. I absolutly love the soups here. They do not taste canned at all in fact they taste as homemade as you can get in a commercial area like columbus circle. I would def reccommend to anyone who is looking for a hearty yet healthy lunch.

Good breakfast sandwiches/dishes, solid lunch fare and the addition of a surprisingly good slice of pizza keeps me coming back. The prices are reasonable and the dude behind the counter who tosses breakfast sandwiches is the man. Seriously, the man.

There are so many great reviews of this place I felt a need to de-bunk the myth. The food here is fine, but it's not great. I work up the block and have eaten here a few times and always am hoping to get an amazing sandwich, but they're always just ok. Also they've become pretty expensive compared to what a lot of the reviews on here say. All sandwiches cost at least $7 and the juice is about $4 which is not cheap either. I've gotten their soup twice and both times it's tasted very canned. I'll keep going here because it's down the street, one of the better deli's in the neighborhood, and does consistently taste healthy, but I wouldn't go out of my way for this place. So do go, it's good enough, but don't go out of your way to eat here.

Lunch Box is the best! I get an unlimited metrocard just so I can pop over there for lunch. Delicious sandwiches esp the tuna or turkey combos, muffins, and their juices are super fresh. I admit that heir soups aren't as homemade tasting as they used to be but everything else is still first rate. I can't imagine what the last reviewer had that could be described as bland. I'd describe the flavors in the combos as subtle and intelligently composedeach ingredient is there for a reason and they combine to produce sandwiches that are supremely satisfying. You'll feel healthy and 'up' after eating one, not sluggish as with regular deli sandwiches.

I stopped by here the other day since the Lunch box is rated so high and just around the corner from where I work. In all honesty the sandwich that I had wasn't anything to write home about, nothing that you can't get at any health food market and just a tad bit overpriced. I would compare this to a place similar to Olives down in Soho, except that Olives is absolutley unique and delicious, except for their steak sandwich. I just didn't feel that the lunch box could be considered a great sandwich shop without unique tastes, it was very bland, but I guess that's what people like these days.
