arrived at 7 pm with reservations, had to ask for water, drinks, to order and at 8:30 pm got grilled salmon which was frozen inside - took it back and returned 5 min later with same piece which had been obviously microwaved - it was now steaming inside and gray . Didn't offer to make things right and didn't seem to care. Never go there ever again and will tell everyone.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday last year and I must say I was enchanted just from looking into the window from the street. The restaurant gives off a very bright, cozy and romantic aura and the service was absolutely amazing. The waiters were extremely attentive to our needs and the food was very delicious. In my opinion, it was worth every cent!

Went here once, it was sub-par and service was abhorrent. Went again and it was utterly fantastic and service was impeccable. Went a third time and awful, ugh. We didn't even get our meal, the waitress forgot to put the order in and didn't seem to care that we waited over an hour and didn't even have a starter. By then, they actually ran out of our food. Many customers were complaining about service and were quite loud about being unimpressed with their dining experience and when I inquired about the food to a neighbor table, they said it was average. Failing miserably two out of three times just doesn't cut it. That restaurant could be so great, if they knew something about consistency.

This is a true neighborhood restaurant, in the best sense. The food is wonderful. So is the service. It's quietly chic, and so are the patrons, but it's never self-conscious and always welcoming. Over the past year, ever since a friend recommended it, it's become one I confidently recommend to other friends.

We stumbled on this after visiting the Frick museum. What a lucky chance as we had an excellent lunch. The staff were the friendliest bunch I have seen in a long time. The owner/manager was on site watching all the time and even pitched in to keep things moving. The food was top notch and they even provided a vin santo plate that would make the Tuscans blush. Highly recommended. Everything mentioned by others is true.

Love the place, just about live there..the food is wonderful and they're extremely accomodating regarding any "adjustments" to the menu. Very nice owner and her husband - - the rest of the staff reflects their tone by being equally lovely. Neighborhood place so you may see celebs from a variety of fields BUT though you see them this is NOT fodder for the press...it's everyone's neighborhood spot. The place can be very lively and sometimes thankfully quiet....serves lunch and dinner every day so it can always be a "destination." Upstairs is a bit more romantic....though the downstairs is nice, too. For some foolish reason Zagats managed to omit Lumi from their listings for the past two years but as a well-heeled and well traveled friend said, "Lumi doesn't need to be listed in Zagats, EVERYONE who's anyone knows about Lumi. If you like to eat outside, there's sidewalk dining in the warmer weather....and it seems to start as soon as the first thaw comes around... It is definitely worth a try..... Wish it could stay a secret but that wouldn't be fair to the very nice owner and staff....and excellent chef....

The food was very good. We had excellent service. My mother-in-law has Celiac and she had a great meal without any worry. We would definitely go back.
